I didn't mind the Tom Cruise part. They were connecting it to movie making that was/is a core part of Hollywood/LA area (which is why they were dropping tons of "think Hollywood" hints throughout the ceremony).

I'm sure someone else could have easily done a skit to showcase movies but Tom Cruise is just one of those people who loves to do flashy, dangerous things which for a closing ceremony/opening of what the next host city is going to be like they probably would want it to be eye catching.

I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about him himself but I understand why they figured he might be good for it, for all we know he approached them and say "listen here's what we could do to really get their attention".

The musical guests on Venice Beach were all part of the LA area so that was a nice tie in.

I liked the rings part of the closing ceremony and the way they did the lights on the fans where you had images at the beginning was neat too. I loved that they did the women's marathon medals this time but it's unfortunate this wasn't done before. They should alternate it for future ones.

I loved the Tom Cruise bit! He does crazy stunts and athletic stuff in his movies so it was appropriate. Phoenix sounded great too.

I am not a fan of Tom Cruise but that was the most exciting part of this ceremony. Did not care for the musical acts in the LA portion. Not just Snoop who I am not crazy about but the others as well.

Is anyone watching the LA 28 handover show?? I'm not sure what to think. Venus and the guests seem to be reading from a script or something. Very unnatural. My DD keeps wondering why the band of old guys can't keep on their shirts
