Paris 2024 Olympics thread (the opening ceremony is Friday) on NBC/USA network/Peacock and other NBC Universal stations.

This moring I tuned in to Speed Climbing - that's awesome!
Thank you! I have to go further into our app to find this.
Kayak cross might be one of my new favorite sports. I guess I need to watch speed climbing!
I was cooking when it came on & was like did I just hear the word 'cross'. 🤸I love the Winter Olympics in general, but have especially enjoyed all the crazy fun knock out racing added. So fun to have more cross races added to the summer games.
Track question... I seem to remember each lap of the track being referred to as 1/4 mile OR 400m. Meaning four laps would be a mile or 1600m. Did they always have 1500m races?
Yes. Always.

--------

I am continually awed at the speed of both the 400 & and the 1500. Honestly I was even amazed watching friends run these races when I was young.

The Olympics, it feels like they are sprinting these longer races. And with such ease at times. Their skill is so deceiving that one's brain does not understand how they can't get another gear at the end. When obviously they have given everything, and have nothing left but to stay steady.

Yeah, go to the All Sports section and you can find what you want. The replays are up pretty quick.
On CBC gem, but same premise.

I had a hit & miss with track yesterday. So I put on a three hour plus replay on last night. 🤩The obsession is ridiculous.

Question -

Our app replays have no fast forward or rewind, which I find bizarre. Do yours?

Speed climbing- just wow! Finally got to watch some 3 on 3 basketball. I really enjoy that much more than regular basketball.

I need to watch some fencing, sounds like it has been exciting!

You know how they sometimes have one of those climbing walls at an amusement park or carnicval? I'd love to see one of those guys walk up and then, bam - scaled to the top in 5 seconds flat! Seriously, gravity means nothing to those speed climbers!

Kayak cross is certainly interesting to watch although I'm not completely sold yet on it.

I've read some critical comments on it mostly that a lot comes down to chance.

The rules are interesting but it kind reminds me of how people watch certain sports for the fights or crashes. That's pretty much the goal of it is to encourage them to get into tumbles

I saw the 1500- what a race! I also caught the team free routine for synchronized swimming. France's swim caps and routine were very interesting and team USA had a great routine! If you want to watch France was the first to perform, team USA was towards the end.

I am really impressed with synchronized swimming. The acrobatics that they can do is amazing considering they are lifting without touching the bottom. Team USA did well!
