No, it's these tight vertical stripes on the grey-blue Team USA outfits and some other countries. They actually look werid on TV and do that shimmery thing.

I checked out some of the lesser watched sports today: archery, shooting, and badminton. Fun to watch for a half hour or so, but I’m kinda amazed that there are large crowds of paying spectators.

Poor Alex Walsh! She DQ’d in the 200 IM and lost a medal. She turned all the way over on her stomach transitioning from the backstroke to breaststroke which is a no-no. What a sad and terrible rookie mistake .

My DD24 was a competitive swimmer and specialized in the back stroke (100 & 200) and the 200 IM. Every IM’er makes that mistake … but when they’re a kid and not on the world stage. I’m so bummed for her!

I actually prefer total medal count, I couldn't care less who is at the top but I think total medal count gives actual appreciation towards all medals not just gold.

Greece for instance is listed as number 26 on the USA today one but 43 on the Olympics site the difference being Greece has no gold

IOC goes by gold count. Ancient Olympics only counted first place victories.

I honestly do not care one bit about the medal count. I hate how the NBC (and affiliates) coverage is so rah-rah US. I am happy to see the successes of other smaller and less well-funded countries. Irish and Armenian gymnasts, St Lucian runner, Dominica triple jumper. And the Ukrainian gymnasts! I would love to hear more about others rather than the same old same old.
