1. It's very hot in their schools.
2. If they wear it to school then the teachers insist they wear it on the playground where they get sweaty and hot.
3. They can't fit their backpacks, books and bulky coat into their lockers without jamming it. (I can't tell you how many lockers I unjam every day)
4. They are 10-12-13 years old -- I figure they are old enough to know if they are cold or not and cold doesn't make you sick -- germs do.
5. I rarely wear a coat myself, I hate driving with one and usually don't pull it out unless it is less then 30 degrees.
