Congratulations to your daughter on her graduation day!!!!

I’m so sorry she is sick and cannot fully enjoy the fruits of her labor. What a bummer. Covid STINKS!

My girl and her boyfriend are on a crazy adventure this weekend. We live in Virginia. Earlier this week they bought tickets to a concert in Red Rocks, Co for Sunday night. His mom works part time for American Airlines, so they are using her flight perks to get there. They are going to fly standby from Va to the hub in Charlotte, NC and then are hoping to catch a stand by flight to Denver from there. The 6:20 am RIC-CLT flight got cancelled last night and the 9:00 am and 11:00 am flights were full, but the 2:00 pm flight looks promising. They should get to Denver late tonight. Then they’ll turn around and do it all in reverse on Monday. It’s going to be a couple of long days for them, but they’re young!

My DD has been working since mid August but officially got hired as a teacher in Feb. she got 2-3 small raises and a big check for retro pay. It’s been good.

She will be doing a summer school stem program. She said money will be good. It’s only for 20 days I think. Plus she found out she will be getting another raise. 🎉 I hope things continue to be positive for her and all the

I saw a "Back to School" thread and I thought I would resurrect this one with my news.

My DD is finally going back to school! Yay!!!! She is finally done with her "gap period" ("More than year, but less than a lifetime.") and she will be attending Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR. She will be studying Mental Health Counseling for the next 3 years for her master's degree.

For the past couple of years she had been living nearby at her BF's parent's place about 45 minutes away in the summer and being a ski bunny in the winter. She spent the last 2 winters in Breckenridge, CO teaching all levels of skiing, including private lessons. She loves to ski and spent over 100 days on the mountain last winter. Her new summer hobby is mountain biking ... down the mountain. She and a friend take the lifts up to the top of the mountain and ride like crazy girls back down to the Peak 9 buildings. She shares absolutely terrifying videos with me. Thanks honey.

She'll be moving to Portland soon and we're planning to visit her in about a month right before school starts.

Good for her @robinb ! Random side note, my DD was obsessed with Lewis & Clark as a kid, so she would like that college name!

DD is at the same job she got after college. She got married in 2024 and moved so it's about 50 minutes to work instead of 2 miles but they let her do remote 2 days a week. She's doing well and I hope all of our Class of 2017's are too!

That is great, @robinb!

My DD finally graduated college last May (2024). She changed majors and took a year and a half off during Covid. I bribed her to finish by offering to take her on an Ireland trip when she graduated (her choice). DD and I finally had our "chicks' trip" a couple of weeks ago. She's working as a receptionist at a neurologist's office, but has started applying for jobs a little more in line with her major (stage management/cinematography).

So fun to see the updates, DS has changed jobs a couple times but is now settled into a job at a local accounting firm, His degree is in finance so he has to take a couple additional accounting classes and then plans to sit for the CPA exam.
