Yay for everyone with scholarships and grants.
DS was off school yesterday for a teacher development day, so we used it to go to an admitted students day for one of his top two choices. We had already done a prospective student visit at this school and a lot of it was a repeat, but our tour guides for both the university tour and the business school tour were both really good and offered some unique insights/perspectives than we got last time. He liked it quite a bit and said he could see himself there. We have an admitted visit scheduled with his other top choice in mid-march and he's not planning to make a final decision till after that.
Yesterday's visit was at my alma mater, and the other one is at my sister's alma mater. Based on our experiences, I think my sister's alma mater might be a better fit for him (smaller, more personal). My alma mater did a really good job of "selling itself." I also think it helped that I knew my way around the campus. When we visited the other school, the tour was OK but we got turned around trying to find things on our own after tour. The map was terrible (to be fair, my school's map is probably equally bad, but we didn't need the map.) My sister offered to go with us this time to be our own personal tour guide, but DS wants it to be just me and him. Maybe I'll have to study the map more closely before we go (really, he should... but... I don't think he will, and I'd hate for him to make his decision based on feeling lost one place and not the other.)
