Parents of DD's....does your daughter have her ears pierced?

Karel, buy her some hypoallergenic earrings, I bet it makes a world of difference. My daughter and I both have to wear them. I can't stand regular earrings in my ears, I feel like they are going to burn and itch off.

No, she has no desire at the moment. I had thought of making her wait until she was 12 should she ask but since she's now 12, I guess I won't get to tell her not yet.

I think that it depends on the child and how well you think that they will take care of their ears and their earrings. I know that my daughter, had she wanted her ears pierced, would have been wanting to change them out each day and would have had trouble keeping up with the earrings. So everything has worked out in my situation.

I've never had my ears pierced nor ever had the desire. I'm not a jewelry person and the only piece of jewelry I wear is my wedding ring and an occasional pin.

DD got hers pierced at 2. She pointed to my earrings and said, "Ear balls, Mama. I want 'em!" So she got them. ;)

I highly suggest getting earrings from Simply Whispers. They make earrings for people who have nickel allergies. I can't wear any earrings but theirs. That is where I buy most of DD's earrings now. She has never had trouble with her ears, but I figure why take the chance.

Both my girls have had thier ears pierced. My oldest never had any problems, my youngest did, both times. My oldest's ears are still pierced, the other not. She wants them done again though. This time she is getting on antibiotics and being extra careful with what earrings we put in them.

Both of my girls got their's pierced when they were around 12 years old. My youngest has a problem with a nickel allergy, so we have to be careful.

Her friend had her belly button pierced. A couple of weeks ago, it got caught on something and ripped out!

I think that cured my DD from asking for it anymore. ;)

I think if your daughter wants to go ahead and let her. It stops the mystery and since it seems more painful than it really is when you're younger. Maybe she will remember that when one of her friends says " hey, lets go get our belly buttons peirced" I had mine at 7 and you better believe I never cared to get anything else pierced. It's funny when your young everythng like such a big deal.

My mom let me get mine done when I was 11. Her reasoning for this age was that I was old enough to take care of them myself and she didn't have to deal with it. She doesn't have pierced ears and was pretty squeamish about the whole thing.

I had DD's pierced when she was 2. She did fine with them till about 5 and then developed a NASTY allergic reaction and we had to let the holes close up. She is almost 12 and finally had the nerve to go get them done a month or so ago.

My DD has had hers pierced since age 3 or 4. She has always had to wear the sensitive earrings. She is now 14 and has wanted her cartilage pierced for about 2-3 years. I don't have a problem getting it done, it just seems that the times she remembers to ask are the times I don't have enough money on me. Well, about 2 weeks ago I noticed she had her right ear cartilage pierced. I asked her about it and she informed me the girl next door did it for her. She thought it was ok because the girl used an ear piercing gun. She did show it to me and it was purchased at our local Drug Mart. Needless to say she got grounded. I was mad, but I told her that I was more disappointed in her.
I didn't realize that they sold these ear piercing guns at local drug stores.
