We are planning our very first cruise for next April, 2005. I just read a post about someone coming back and her 14 DS didn't like the activities. I have heard so many great things about this cruise, but will my 16 yr. old DS like it and will there be plenty of things for him to do?? Now I'm getting nervous.

So much so that we took him on DCL again for his 18th b'day last Nov. It was his choice where to go & what to do. We gave him the choice of any cruise line, amount of days, etc.

His first DCL cruise (2nd cruise, tho) he was 16 & loved everything about the cruise. Before going he wanted very much to cruise, but didn't think he'd like the teen club - said it sounded 'boring'. I went to the castaway club website {see my next reply below} & had him look at the detailed info of the teen activities. That perked him up a bit, but he still was hesitant about some of the excursions that they do & thought some of the activities sounded corny (not his word).

However, I asked him to at least try the activities because it could be a once-in-a-lifetime thing. He agreed & I have to tell you that he absolutely LOVED the teen group, made a lot of friends whom he still communicates on-line with & enjoyed almost every activity that he thought he wouldn't like. We'd run into him & he'd say, "Can't talk. We're {doing this or that}". It was funny.

Anyway, obviously it wasn't a one-time thing because he chose to go back 2 yrs. later & he had a great time again. Of course, he is a pretty outgoing kid & makes friends rather easy. That makes a difference, too. My other son (12 last cruise) isn't as outgoing & he still had a great time. He's begging us to take him along on our upcoming cruise - he'll be 14 - just to experience the teen club. We'll see!

Hi -

I just went to the castaway club website looking for the description of the teen activities and couldn't find the link --

can you tell me where to look for it?

Thanks!!

I will have two teens going on our cruise :-)

Kris

www.disneycruise.com that you go to.
Then go to the top & click on "Fun On Board"
Then to the left - "Teens"
& then it describes the areas & gives you a link at the bottom - "More Activities". That's where we got all of the info. from.

I didn't list the activities originally because each teen likes something different. I kept it vague so the parents showing their kids this thread would go to the area to check it out themselves.

You can go to castawayclub. com, click on Navigators, then the length of your cruise and then teen navigators. My 13 yr. old son will be at Common Grounds Sunday. He loved the younger club, so I hope he enjoys this too!

DS, who was 11 and 13 on our previous cruises is really looking forward to the next one, on which he'll be 15. Though he never really "go into" the clubs, he nevertheless had an incredible time.

Yes, I think that your 16 yo Son will have a great time on the Wonder. Our daughter who is 16 has been on 4 Disney Cruises on the Wonder and will be going on another one in January(this time a 4 day on the Magic). She has loved them all.
Even if he doesn't like what is happening all of the time in the teen room, he will make friends that he can just hang out on the ship with.
I would be very amazed if he did not have fun.

The group tends to gel quickly since they don't have many days together. The great thing is that there is so much going on he can choose to participate or just hang out.

Thanks so much everyone. That was extremely reassuring!
