I was considering taking an evening out with DH to one of the signature restaurants next time we're in the World.

We've never done this before and it dawned on me that we would have 3 kids TS meals to use that we wouldn't have credits for (we have 3 kids) if we used the DDP for our night out.

Are we better off just paying out of pocket for the night out so we're not out of sync with the kids meals?

Also, can you make reservations for a place like CG and only have drinks and dessert?

If you are going to California Grill your kids would be 6 ahead of you.

You can go to CG and just get appetizers, desserts and a few beverages. If this is your plan you are much better off staying on track with your kids credits and paying OOP at CG.

We usually pick Jiko for our night out. We paid OOP when on the DDP and came out 'ahead'.

I don't know why I was thinking only a 3 credit difference. :confused3 I guess because I knew they would have to eat that night but we'd probably get them counter service from somewhere and then they would be "behind" with those meals.

I guess just paying OOP makes things much easier.

A couple of other things to consider:

Are some of your other ADRs for lunch? You might be better off paying out of pocket for a couple of adult lunches while charging the kids' meals to the DDP.

You can also ask the server to split the charge -- use 2 DDP credits for one adult meal and pay for the other one OOP. That way you're only one meal off from the kids.

We had a similar thing come up...

We ate at Brown Derby and used 2 TS credits for ourselves. (btw, this was back in the day of apps and tips included, so I didn't mind using 2 credits as much as I would now :headache: ) I just couldn't bring myself to use 2 credits for my 4 yr old son's $7.00 plate of pasta. We paid OOP for him and saved his credits but used ours. Then when we went to a few character breakfasts we paid OOP for ourselves and used his credits there.
The servers we had didn't seem to mind splitting the check up for us at all.
