Parents: Need Your Thoughts on This Idea!

I like the idea of individual items on hands or apples or post it notes or whatever. If you just send out a list, you can end up with 10 of one item and none of others. :flower:

This is exactly why I think it's such a great idea! I could see parents picking their apple at Meet the Teacher or Open House if they choose to help. If they don't want to they don't have to.
My only problem with doing it throughout the year is that some parents never really make it into the room again during the year. They may want to help but wouldn't know what was needed.

My DD's Teachers both last year and this year have done it. I think it went over very well. She gave everyone a printed list of items she would like to have and than there is a hand print on a board of items she would also like to have for her classroom. Nothing was forces or pushed on us. Just if you are out and would like to pick up one of the items that would be great.

I ran across a GREAT sale on Pencils this weekend. So I picked up several boxes for the class. Cost me less than a $1.00.

Both of her teachers also have Staples Teacher Reward Cards. If you are purchasing something from Staples you use a copy of the Teachers card and she receives Reward money on the items that you purchase. Than she can use that money to purchase things that she needs. That doesn't cost the parents anything.
