I just had to start using parental controls. My 11 year old boy has been visiting explicit websites. I am using the feature built into Vista and so far it seems to be working.

I wish we could, but right now we just do the old fashioned (as old fashioned as anythng is with the internet!) computer in the kitchen thing.

I tried some parental control software for our Mac, and it just didn't work well. We'd like to limit the time DSS11 is on the internet, but the software just limits the time that things are actually transferring, not the time that the browser is open. So, for example, DSS can download a flash game, stop the timer, and play all he wants.

I also can't figure out a way to let him use gmail. Plus, I don't know of any way to let him watch videos (like youtube) but limit the content.

The software was either so restrictive, I was perpetually overriding it and just watching him or just letting him use my account. So we got rid of it.

If anyone knows any good software though, we'd certainly keep it in mind for the future.
