Anyone done this?? How is it? Is it worth the cost??
Please tell me your experiences with getting there, the ride, the shops, etc...

Thanks!

Kamy,

We did it in May of 2001 and loved it. It is a short walk from the pier. I think cost was about $10 per person (don't quote me on that). There are some nice shops, some beautiful birds (that you can have your picture taken with) and a great view of the Magic.

I hight recommend it.

This was our favorite "off-the-ship activity on our cruise. The taxi drivers will try to convince you not to go but don't listen to them - the view on the way up (and down) is fantastic and the tram moves slowly enough (but not too slowly) to enjoy it.
There is a small cafe, some shops and a bird show at the top along with a nature walk (wear sneakers, not sandals - it's rocky).

Ok, A few more bits of info. It boards literally right across the street from the port, you shouldn't need a taxi ride of any kind to get there. It is a very cool fun time.

Just be sure you do not tender in St. Thomas like we did 2 weeks ago, then it is not just a walk across the street but a $3.00 taxi ride. I had booked the excursion thru DCL so I had the tickets when I boarded the ship and received a phone message saying we would have to take a taxi, did not think it was worth another $12. This was our pm after the beach thing to do and I booked knowing we would just be able to walk back on the ship. I went to guest services and they refunded the money so we did not get to go.

In 1995 - we did the tram in Switzerland - all I can say is "AAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhhh!" and I said it all the way down. Guess that's why DH and DS are now hard of hearing!!!!!

Getting the shakes just looking at the picture - but you'd sooner see me in the tram than in the water.....
