Would you stay at the PP or Hojo's? We are a party of 6 adults and 5 kids under age 6. The PP would be about $600 more for a standard room. We are WDW vets, and really want the whole Disney experience, so that is a factor. I have recently read some not so great reviews of both properties on Trip Advisor, so am concerned about staying at either, but really can't afford DL Hotel or GC! Can anyone who has stayed recently at either advise us? TIA!!!:)

We stayed at PP in January and it was great!! Very Disney, and if you can get a theme park view, it is simply amazing!!! We'll be back for sure!!

We're WDW vets too, and DH and I decided that we are "on-site" people!!

We stayed at the PPH in May and December of last year and really enjoyed it. We had wonderful experiences both times. Our May trip was...um, challenging for my family (death in family and my daughter got VERY sick while we were there) and the staff at PPH was over the top incredible. That is why we went back in December (my daughter NEEDED a make up since May was her 1st trip to DL and it was less than magical to say the least). Get a view, it makes a difference!

When are you going? How many days is the $600 more for?

If you're morning people and going after June 15th, staying onsite will give you some bonus MM entries and a private entrance into CA could be a plus.

Staying on property is always special. I have stayed at both the PPH and Hojo's. The PPH is nicer. Hojo's is clean, but older. It is a "historical" landmark. The walk to the gates are probably comparable. The PPH supplies a stretched out golf cart to give you a ride to DTD. But, like said earlier the perks for staying on property are worth it for summer travel. :tink:

We actually booked a package thru Disney at Hojo's for August 30th for 4 nights. Saved $1000 over the DLR, so jumped on it, and now have 2nd thoughts. We don't want to stay at DLR because of the $$, and the marathon. So, now having 2nd thoughts about Hojo, and thought maybe PP would be better? Not sure of any more perks, since we get the magic mornings and toon town morning because we booked a package. If we upgraded to a view room, it would be even more expensive. BUT, if it would be worth it, we would upgrade to the PPH!! What is their new pool like? Kids like to swim in the afternoon!:) So, the walk is about the same to DL? Yikes, decisions decisions!!!

I am probably wrong but I thought the standard rooms were limited to 5 persons?:confused3

I disagree with most of the others. Hojo's is our hotel of choice when we go to DLR. Our 9 yo DGD loves it. This past Feb, DW & I did an anniversary trip to DLR, just the two of us, so we booked PPH as a special treat. To us, it was just a hotel room. Nothing special. I thought Hojo's was every bit as nice, and a whole lot cheaper to boot. PPH did seem like it was a closer walk, though. And we appreciated the walk through GCH to get to the parks. But in the future, we'll stick with the cheaper places on Harbor, principally Hojo's. JMHO.

How many nights? And how much extra is it going to cost the other 2 adults?

To me $600 is quite a lot, especially if it's just for a 2 or 3 night stay.

Also, where do you normally stay when you go to WDW? What level of hotel?

I think little kids would like the splash and slide area at hojo's and I love the hot tub that's right nearby. I can sit in the hot tub and see DD playing in the water.

For us, staying at PP is not worth an extra $600 that I could spend on other things or save for our next trip.

Yes, that is $600 per family! Yikes, I guess it sounds like its not worth it? We have stayed at moderate (POR), and Deluxe (Beach Club/Boardwalk) many times at WDW, and love WDW! Hope we won't be disapp:confused:ointed at DL!

We have stayed in a cpl hotels off harbor (not walking distance though) and really liked Homewood Suites (who now has their own shuttle). But then we stayed at the Grand a cpl stays ago and were spoiled. It is very much like a deluxe in WDW.

Our trip a couple weeks ago we stayed at the Grand before our Disney Cruise and once again loved it (the closeness, the service, etc) and then stayed at PPH after the cruise. We were not impressed :( It was just a hotel- not worth the extra money in my opinion. It worked for us to be so close (it was just across from the Grand so we used all their entrances) but it seemed like any other hotel. For one night though not a biggie. I won't stay there again personally. If I want a budget hotel feeling I would stay on harbor/offsite. If I want that extra special magical feeling I will stay at the Grand. I can't comment though on DL hotel as I haven't stayed there since the remodel.

I would stick with hojo's if I were you, unless you really splurged and went with the Grand. Just not sure the $600 a family is worth it.

$600 per family?! Is that for 3 nights? How does the other family feel about that? Are they used to staying at Beach Club type hotels?

I would say that Hojo's, and the other hotels on harbor, are on par with the Disney Value hotels -- AS Music, AS Sports, etc. So, if you're not keen on staying at those, I'm not sure you're going to be happy over there.

For me, I can't justify the extra $200 a night to jump from Harbor over to PP. We mostly just sleep there, maybe take a swim. But I also don't budget for Boardwalk hotel at WDW. I mostly stay at Value hotels with the occasional splurge for POR or Universal's onsite hotel.

The extra $600 is for 4 nights! So, I guess we will stick with Hojo's, as the Grand is just way too much! Thank you all so much, all the comments has really helped!:worship:

We've stayed at hojo several times and never had any issues. We would love to stay at one of the Disney hotels, but the amount of money we save by stay offsite allows us to go to Disneyland 2 or 3 times a year.

We have never stayed onsite because all we do in our room is sleep and shower, so it's not worth the extra money. I would rather spend that money in the parks on food, gifts, character meals, etc.
