I am wondering how convenient it is or isn't to use the DCA entrance through the bigger hotel when staying at Paradise Pier and how that works if the early hour is at DL instead -it looks like a long walk around on the map. Is it really any quicker than the non Disney hotels accross the street from the entrance? Trying to deside if it is worth it to stay on site.

For early entry, I will not use the GCH entrance. They line gets too backed up I would cross thru the hotel, and go to DTD and use the regular entrance. About 5-10 min after opening, no problem, use the GCH entry. Is it quicker? It would be about the same. I have seen the lines from the Harbor side back up half way down thru the bus entry area first thing though.

Cross the street, go into the Grand, follow the signs to DTD.

When staying onsite you get early entrance to both parks, so it's for every day of your stay as long as you have admission.

Sure harbor might be closer but the lines tend to be longer, and you wouldn't get early entry every day.

From the PPH to the entry at GCH, it is .25 miles to the gate. Even at a slow pace, 5-7 mins. It is .38 miles to the main entrance bag check. We do it in about 12 mins.

Fastest way to DL is through the Grand lobby. From there you can cut through DTD or though the DCA entrance. All things being equal, it is dang near the same exact time from the GHC lobby to the Esplanade going either way. Have timed it out several times, even splitting groups to see who would get there first.

Either way does not matter except for the typical traffic backup in the early AM at the DCA entrance.

There are a few Harbor Blvd hotels that are actually closer, but not by a lot. If bed to gate distance is your driving decision, then the GCH is the only one that will truly fulfill that requirement.

For the OP, a reminder that the bag check lines are much worse first thing in the AM on the Harbor side.

I made these sometime ago. They are mislabeled . Where it says Downtown Disney District is actually the roof of GCH.

Excellent article posted, thank you. We havent been to DL since 2010 when we stayed down the road at the RV park. Our most recent vacations have been at Universal Orlando where we have really enjoyed the convenience of staying on site. We are hoping for a similar experience at DL, but when I saw the maps, the hotels looked farther away - especially Paradise Pier being across a street. What I know for sure is that the more we know the better time we will have - we have proven that in Orlando. So I appreciate all of the insights of this group!
