OK I've been reading threads for two days now. Some people like it; some say it's not worth the extra $$$. and for a few $$ more I should go to the DL hotel.

The biggest down comment seems to be with the theme. I'm not sure if anyone has actually stayed there it since they have re-done it.

Our kids are older so they can well walk the extra couple of steps. Hotel theme is not out #1 priority, just something nice. Pool as long as it has water in it will be fine.

We are really interested in their concierge rooms. Has anyone stayed in them and can comment?

We stayed there three different times and like it. Every hotel has its benefits so it is hard to compare. But considering that if you get an East facing room you have a PREMIUM view of DCA.
Last time we stayed there was in a two room suite, concierge level in June. It faced west, but we didn't care.
It was very nice, we loved the sitting area and table in the next room. The staff allways went out of their way to bring in pixie dust and magic.
I think they have now finished the remodle of the pool and it has a twisting slide. The restruants are great.
If it fits your budget I think it is wonderful.
My personal choices with no budget constrants would be
#1 Grand Californian
#2 Paraidise Pier
#3 Disneyland Hotel
I've stayed at them all.

Thank you Minda. My DH really wants to stay there. We are DVC memebers and are going to try and use points to pay for it. I'm going to call them tomorrow. I like the idea of the two room suite.

I just want to let you know that we absolutely love PPH, too. The new rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We still walk through the Grand every day on the way to the parks, and are close enough to watch Fantasy Waters at the DLH and play in DTD. The new pool slide is a lot of fun too. It's a great place, and the staff is excellent.

Just got back from 3 days there!
The rehab on the pool area gets a big thumbs up.
I think it's a great hotel. I have stayed at all the hotels on property several times each and the PP is a good value for the money (esp if you get a deal).
My only complaint is the elevators - they are LAME!!! Too small, too few, can be a real pain at check in and check out times. When coming back from park closing I have had to wait 20 mins to get on and everyone has sleeping kids in strollers and only one big stroller can fit in at a time! Yikes the elevators there are bad news.
Otherwise it is great!

Glad to hear the good reviews. I called today, they want 52 points per night, That is A LOT, I need to see if I can get a good price.

Maryanne -

52 pts per night? Is this concierge? What month and day of week is this for? Just wondering since we had/were considering this hotel too for our next summer (after cruise) trip.

Anna, it is for the end of June and it is for Concierge the DTD view. The difference between the DTD view and the pool view was only 2 points per night. I called DVC this morning (I'm assuming you're DVC also) they have now evened out the weeks on the trade out to Califoria hotels no more higher on week-ends, it is the exact same point price each day of the week. So if you're there a week-end night you'll make out a little better point wise but the S-T nights are going to cost a little bit more.

We were at PP several weeks ago and we won't be returning to that hotel.

I have stayed in Marriotts that were themed better than PP. The lobby area was very crowded, the elevators were always jammed with people. We also didn't like the restaurant. The pool area was OK. We didn't use the slide but nothing special about the pool area.

No laundry facility unless you walked to the Disneyland hotel. We didn't have a room that faced the park but those rooms had a great view. I think the view we had at the Hilton Anaheim was almost as good and the hotel was much better.

No elevators in the parking garage either. It wasn't a bad hotel just that I could have had a better stay at other hotels in the area for the same or less money.

The only plus was the park entry through CA or being right there at DTD.

We did think about it using points or cash. Could not decide. We booked three nights as of now at the Fairfield Inn across the street and will probably redeem my point with cc for this stay.

We stayed @ PP last November. I love the PP. They upgraged us to a room with a wiew of CA park. The room was clean, quiet and had a cute Disney theme. Pictures in the room, the lamps had characters. In the bathroom we had mickey soaps and toothbrushes in boxexs with characters on them. The staff was very friendly. My kids each got bags with cards, and pictures of different characters. and a balloon. The staff was great. Even if we would not have recieved all the extras The whole stay felt very "disney"
