Have you ever been to a "paradise island"? White sandy beach, palm trees, colorful fish in the see? Where was it? Where did you stay? Was it child friendly? Tell me all you care to tell...

We´re looking for a location for our 2008 holiday. We´d love to go snorkeling, bask in the sun, enjoy new tastes, colours and fragrances. Basically, we want something exotic ;)

I liked Atlantis a lot, but mostly for the resort itself, not the beach. Trunk Bay beach on the island of St. John is the most beautiful place I have ever been. Crystal clear turquoise water, white powdery beaches, very secluded, it was absolutely gorgeous. If you like to snorkel the water is fairly shallow for quite a ways out, and it is so clear that they have boulders at the bottom with pictures of the fish around there so you can easily identify them.

Also, some of the beaches on Maui are just spectacular, especially Kapalua.

The last time we were there was some 9 years ago-I know they've built on a lot. When we were there the beach at the Atlantis was small and crowded. If you walk up the road there was a wonderful little restaurant with a topless beach. The waves on that side of the island were pretty rough both times we went and the beach wasn't wide with the surf pulling most of the sand out. Atlantis was beautiful but as far as beaches go I still like the Gulf side of FL

I don't think she was asking about Paradise Island...more islands that were like being in paradise.
