Parade participation

Have any of you guys out there ever been lucky enough to participate in one of the World's parades? If so, how did you get picked? Being in a parade would make my 'moon.

My son has been picked twice to participate in the Share a Dream parade. Both times it was just luck of the draw. I don't think they are doing this anymore. Does anyone know? I noticed on our trip last month-- nobody was brought into the parades at all for interaction. I thought it could possibly be related to the accident this winter.

On Feb 11th one of the costumed workers, i think it was pluto, was hit by one of the floats and was killed. It happened in the backstage area so none of the guests witnesed it. Here is the link to the story. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/02/11/national/main599777.shtml
