I just posted this on the WDW board, but since it also pertains to Disneyland I'll post it here too . . .

I was glancing through the new Birnbaum guidebooks today and it confirms that Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams will be heading to Magic Kingdom in Florida. Although the WDW books didn't specify a date, the Disneyland one said that the parade would be heading out of Disneyland in mid-2009.

NOOOOOOO. I love POD! Why must they send all the DLR great stuff to WDW! BOO!!!

So does that mean we're getting a new parade for the "What Will You Celebrate" promo?

I too am a big fan of the Parade of Dreams and will be sad to see it go away.

WDW should make their own parades instead of stealing ours :p So, does that mean WDW will be celebrating our Parade?

The rumor says that Disneyland is getting a new parade for the 55th anniversary in 2010. I've heard many conflicting reports about when POD is leaving Disneyland. I will be interested to see how WDW handles a parade that was literally themed to Disneyland.

I read on a topic here once that the light parade was gonna come back full time for awhile, plus the "what will you celebrate" website says they are doing a new block party dance party kinda thing starting in mid-2009.... so maybe they will do those 2 things till the new 2010 parade... i want to see light parade but won't be goin till oct.... so that would be fine with me princess:

As much as I love the POD, I am excited about a new parade. We have APs and go often, so I am ready for a change. I thought it was only going to be there for a year and a half during the 50th anniversary celebration. Over 3 years later, I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.

The book didn't specify what exactly the new parade would be only that it would "have just as much magic" as Parade of Dreams. :confused3

Every new parade rumor I've seen came long before "What Will You Celebrate?" was announced, so I think it's going to be separate from the "celebrate" festivities.

I think the "block party" celebration thing is supposed to be coming to WDW, too, so my guess is that it's separate from the regular parades.

I think it almost has to be. Celebrations are fine and dandy, but sometimes you just visit a Disney park because you feel like it and not because you have something to celebrate.

I've been to disneyland probably 100 times or so during the parade but have never actually watched it. How is it themed for Disneyland? Every part I've seen just looked like different Disney movies.

It's not, really. I think it was designed so it could be recycled for use in other parks besides Disneyland. The only two floats that could be considered DL specific are the beginning (floral Mickey/train station) and end (castle). But even then, they were designed generically enough to suit any Magic Kingdom. The rest of the floats are all animated features. They could easily get rid of the Julie Andrews voiceover in the beginning that talks about Disneyland, and if they really wanted to, they could do away with Walt's "To all who come to this happy place...welcome." line, but I doubt they will.

Part of why I think the parade is themed to Disneyland is that two of the animated feature floats are themed to attractions not found in WDW, Pinochio, and Alice in Wonderland(teacups aside). There are other smaller details such as the classic Disneyland D on the castle float(very much themed to Sleeping Beauty Castle) and Walt's dedication speech that are unique to Disneyland. There's even a piece of choreography on the final float that may be changed at the MK.

It's not that the parade can't be fit to another park, but I will be interested to see how it changes, if at all.

They need a decent daytime parade. Their's is horrible. They have been recycling the same floats and slapping different names of the parade for too many years.

I would love to see Mainstreet Electrical Parade go down mainstreet magic kingdom DL. I have never witnessed that. Spectrogmagic would be awesome for DL too. I love that parade.

TOP FAVORITE PARADES BOTH DAY AND NIGHT:
1. Spectromagic - WDW
2. Mainstreet Electrical Parade - DL / WDW in 1990
3. Parade of Dreams
4. Jammin' Jungle - AK
5. Dreams Come True - WDW (We always skip it after seeing it the first time)
