Parade Marshals

<font face="Comic Sans MS">Does anyone know how to be a parade marshal? Are you chosen at random or can you sign up in advance for this? My mother is driving me crazy about this question wanting me to find the answer for a December vacation.

from everything I have heard and read this is a randon selection. The best bet to be picked seems to be at the gate to a park at opening time. The closer to the front of the pack the better. But please don't push yourself to the front thru or around other people, just get there at least 1/2hr before opening time.

my husband and i were chosen to be the grand marshalls in the Mk parade in January of this year. It was about an hour after opening and we were in the main hub getting character autographs. my husband is 6'4 and a huge tigger fan. he wears the tigger ears and a lanyard full of tigger pins. he really stands out in a crown. CM Robin approached us and started asking lots of general disney-vacation questions. we were very friendly and chatty with her and she asked if we would like to be in the parade. we had a blast and it is one of our fondest memories of any vacation! i wish you luck but it is definitely a "righ place at the right time" kind of thing. And what a wonderful thing it is. Quite an honor.
Must be differnet CM's, as ours was male.
Agree, when we were chosen it was probably around an hour after opening, as a guestimate.
I owe it to pins too. We were strolling, chatting with CM's and comparing pins to trade.
