Are there any good ways to try to be in the "right place at the right time" kind of thing....to get picked to be one? I just thought it would be a thrill for my 8th grader. We're taking her to WDW in July for a celebration of her having survived middle school.

((It was an awful year (no I won't post details). But suffice it to say she's going to an all girls' High School next year and she did nothing wrong. ))

If you have any ideas or there's a better place to post for more info....please let me know. Thanks.

This is strictly a random thing so there really aren't any "tips".

But take your time on Main Street when entering the MK; the choices are made by the CM's.

Actually, each day there is one Guest Services CM assigned to make the choice. We were lucky enough to be chosen as Grand Marshalls this past Mother's Day. We went to the MK for early entry and went directly to Tomorrowland to ride Buzz and Space Mountain. DH wanted to get his hair cut and by this time the Barber Shop was open so he headed there. When the kids and I got there the line was VERY long and only one barber was working so we decided not to wait. We stopped into City Hall to take care of something and started chatting with the CM who helped us. We had forgotten what time our PS at Teppanyaki was for so she looked it up for us. It was for 1:00 but she asked the kids if they would mind eating there later or some other time as she had something she would like them to do for her. They said they would and she explained the Grand Marshall thing to them. Wow! I have been going to WDW since the year it opened ('71) and had never been picked before! We all had the time of our lives! Oh, and the other couple who were Grand Marshalls with us had been picked much later in the morning so it isn't always done first thing in the morning.

It's really not something that you can engineer or ask for. The magic of being the Grand Marshall is that it's totally random.
