I was put in charge of making a parade banner for my daughter's softball team! I'm crafty to a certain extent but need your help and suggestions.

I was thinking of getting a huge piece of felt, in the coordinating colors of our team - it's the Diamondbacks - maroon/black and/or grey. The icon is a diamondback snake.

I bought yellow for softballs and red pipe cleaners to make the stitching. I bought little white letters to stick on near the balls for the girls names.

My issue is hot to incorporate everything. I found a picture of snack with a soccer ball on it's rattle tail -- was going to change that to a softball.

But how to make the snake that big …. buy huge pieces of felt by the yard at the fabric store??

Can you help me?? :)

thanks!

Is this something that will be reused, or is just for one parade (or one parade season?) Felt works but it is pretty heavy for kids to carry a large banner. Some other ideas would be nylon flag material or a light vinyl. Felt can be purchased by the yard and is usually either 60 or 72" wide, so a one yard piece would be 36x60, or 36x72. If the banner is going to be quite large, you are going to want to make sure it has slices through it so it doesn't become a huge sail.

I bought felt at Joann's the other night and have been working on it --- It'll be fine .. they girls are 9 and 10 years old - they can hold it ;)

It's a lot of work that's for sure ;) it's a one banner season! :D
