Paperstock Annual Passes?!

I was disapointed too with the paper but this is my 2nd year as a passholder and the ticket really does hold up well. I had Tinkerbell last year on the card and was happy with that :yay:, this year I have goofy and I want a different one .

I used my tyvek Annual Pass almost 100 times last year with no problems. Never had to replace it.

I have to agree with you Kathy I know we used ours many times probably at least 75 times last year and they never tore or got worn out. DH tried to rip his up and he had to tear it with his teeth.

If you purchase your TIW in person, they are on Tyvek stock.

If you order your TIW card via the phone or email and have the card mailed to you...you get a plastic card (like a credit card).

The part about losing it is true.

Thanks for the clarification on my post. I did know the advance orders were on plastic cards vs. getting the Tyvek at Guest Relations. I had "in person" on the brain.

I just got my new card a few weeks ago, so I confirmed the replacement cost. A couple years ago, the replacement cost was $25. That was still pretty steep, but now it's ridiculously high.

Tyvek is a synthetic paper made to withhold abuse and is marketed as tear proof.

I have a sturdy hard plastic "medical" ID holder that I use to hold my AP/KTWC & Fast Passes. Since I work at a University with a Medical School, I was able to get the nice Medical ID holder from our Health Science Center bookstore, which they sell to medical students.

The first time I got wdw APs I was kinda shocked at how cheap they felt because we had Disneyland APs which are plastic cards. We replaced our WDW APs once last year because they wouldn't scan in some of the turnstiles.

However, the new Premier Passes are plastic cards. They are even better than the Disneyland Plastic APs because they have some raised lettering and stuff on it.

I was also shocked when I upgraded my park hopper to an annual pass at WDW. I was so used to the DL APs. The CM handed me the pass and I asked them "Where do I go to get my picture taken?":lmao: I thought it was a temporary pass. The good thing about a WDW AP is that if you do lose it they replace it for free. At DL they charge you to replace your pass.

I suppose the high replacement cost is to discourage people from getting an "extra" card for others. Other than asking for photo I.D. when using the TIW card (and I have been asked a few times), there's no finger scan to make sure only the purchaser of the card is the one using it.

You can always upgrade to the Premier Pass, that one is a plastic card!
