I created that title with a purpose. Pretty much my whole life I have been outta shape, even when I was an "athlete". And I WAS an athlete. I played baseball ( several all star teams ), wrestled ( tried out for Junior Olympics --- got SMOKED :teeth: ), soccer ( first team Alll Catholic ) and even tried basketball. Heck I was once a 185 average bowler ( high game was 267 ).

And through all that, I have always been fat. In fact, it saddens me at times to wonder what might have been if I had actually ever been in good shape.

Well, now, I think, I have NO CHOICE. I have a medical condition that would be TREMENDOUSLY helped by my getting in shape. And I have kids who want Dad to do more things with them. And I so WANT to do more things with them. I love them to death -- they drive me nuts! ;)

Also, my whole life I have wanted to know what it feels like to buy "regular" sized clothes. I hate shopping at Casual Male. I have wanted to know what it is like to not worry about whether I can fit in the rides at the amusemnt park. I want to sit in a BOOTH once in a while --- though I actually like sitting at a table.

I know that there is a skiiny guy inside me somewhere!

I'm down 11 pounds since the Super Bowl. And tonight, I start running / jogginng..... one foot at a time.

C'mon in and say "hi", won't you? :)

Hi there,

Welcome to WISH!!! This is a great place to get the support that you need/want!!!

Congrats on being down 11 pounds so far. That is great!!!

Keep up the good work!!!!

Hi! :wave2:
Glad you've joined us. Here's some pixiedust pixiedust: for your jogging tonight. You've made a great commitment. Keep thinking about your kids when it gets tough and you will succeed. :cool1:

Welcome to W.I.S.H.!! :goodvibes

Everyone here is so helpful and encouraging, you're sure to do well if you keep working at it.

Best of luck to you, congrats on the 11 lbs already, and again, welcome! :sunny:

Thank you all. I did my first "run" last night... about 300 feet! :teeth: But it is a start. And I'm on track with my diet.

:thumbsup2 Hi !!! Congratulations. I said "hi" over on the running club thread but I'll check in for your journal too! I really find that journaling has helped me stay on track with my goal to run the marathon in January!

Keep up the good work!!!

Cool day today, I am down another pound. So that makes 12 in about 5 weeks. Not shabby.

BTW, when I have been here long enough, I'll post in your journals. Right now I don't feel comfortable enough.

Hi and Good Luck! I have found posting a journal to be really helpful in staying on track. Try a challenge when you get comfortable, they really work too, help you keep track of your progress. Congrats on your weight loss so far , 12 pounds already is awesome! :goodvibes

Hi there,

Way to go on your first run.....like you said, it's a start. And that is all that matters.

Congrats on the loss.....

Keep it up, you are doing great!

Papa Deuce...props for another male posting on the WISH journals!! Us men have to stick together you know ;)

Hey congrats on the initial weight loss! I think you'll find this group to be very supportive.

My suggestion is to come up with some sort of calendar to set goals for your excercise/weight loss. It's such a great reward when you set a goal and achieve it!

Good luck and keep the updates coming!

Hi Papa Deuce & welcome!

Congrats on your impressive loss already. I admire the history you gave, and your honesty. You're on the right track!

Even if you're not comfortable posting on other people's journals, I think it's inspiring to read them & get new ideas for things to use in your own life.

Take care & good luck. We're here for ya! :thumbsup2

Thanks Kim.

Ok, today is BRUTAL. I had to go to the doctor. I have Bronchitis and a sinus infection. Not much I can do except rest and drink fluids and take my medicine.

So no working out.... and all I want is comfort food. At least I'm not that hungry.

Thank you Scott. Actually what I am looking at getting is a comprehensive PDA program to keep track of everything.

As far as "us men"..... we would get killed if the ladies wanted to.... they outnumber us like 10 -1! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry you're sick. That always throws a kink into the plan.

Do the best you can with eating. You're gonna need some kind of food, and if you're not up to preparing healthy food, then a little of the comfort food is ok while you're sick (spoken like a true mommy ;) ).

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Hope you feel better soon... pixiedust:

Looks like you're doing great on the workout, keep it up!!

Oh, and by the way, it's nice to have some guys on here...i'm going to try to talk my DH into keeping a journal on here. Don't know if he's up to the Challenges we have here though..... :confused3

Take it easy and get better!

Hey, PD! Welcome to the wonderful world of WISH journaling. I am sorry you aren't feeling well today, but don't let it derail your efforts. You are doing so great with your healthier eating and you should be so proud of yourself for getting out there running. So glad you've joined us on the training thread.
Keep up the great work! :cool1:

It's AMAZING what one day of antibiotics an do! I feel a whole lot better today. Not good enough to work out, but way better! The only bad part is that my stomach is KILLING me.... from all that coughing. It feels like I did 1000 sit ups yesterday.

But I can breath again without using the spray. I can hear again.

Hopefully by Sunday I can get back in the groove.

Papa....man oh man can I relate! Geesh...I wonder if we sent our germs through the computer ;). I also have bronchitis and sinus infection....went to see the doc on Tuesday. This is day 3 with the antibiotics and I'm not coughing nearly as much.....gee, wonder if coughing counts as abdominal exercises. Mine hurt!!! Unfortunately the antibiotics make me feel yucky :rolleyes2 , so I'm still off my exercise routine.

Hopefully I'll get back to it SOON! Thought about going for a walk today...not sure if it will translate to reality but I am hopeful?! Running just sounds like an impossible feat for a few more days.

Feel better!!!!

Well, I am STILL not ready to exercise. This sinus infection and bronchitus just will not fully let go. It is getting better though. And over the weekend I did not count calories but did keep an eye on what I was eating.

Tomorrow starts another week and I am still 100% comitted.
