Panic setting in as we're unable to verbally cancel our excursions

No, we're not procrastinators. DH and I decided two nights ago that we want to cancel the Pinel Island snorkel tour and instead go to Orient beach. We've known too, that reservations must be cancelled at least 48 hours prior to sail date (look when we're sailing) to avoid being charged. Well, as most of you know, the systems are being updated and it's impossible to get in touch w/Disney today. (We traded the phone off to one another for almost an hour and gave up, as we're trying to prepare for our trip.) Instead, we faxed a request to cancel what we already have booked and included our email address.

My concern is, if we can't get in touch w/them by tomorrow (our 48 hour deadline), will they let us off the hook (no pun intended) w/the charge? We'll have to pay 65.00 even though we won't use it. I can definitley understand the time limit requirement, but I have know way of knowing if they received our fax, etc. Someone else might be wanting to book that snorkel tour, and now our spot is available. Are we doomed? Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Thanks!:D

my recommendation: take a copy of your fax confirmation (and exactly what you faxed) onto the ship when you board Saturday ... go directly to the excursion desk, explain the situation and let them know you want to confirm your cancellation and that you won't be charged since you did send it in more than 48 hours in advance of boarding.

My guess is that they will be fair about it as you tried to cancel before the 48 hours.

We were considering changing one of our excursions on the boat and they said the money for one excursion can be applied to another as long as the excursion is still available. There is the Orient Bay Beach excursion.

Have a great cruise. I'm sure things will work out. Sounds like a good idea to take the copy of your fax if you can't get through.

did you try emailing them?

Thanks to everyone who posted.

Finally called Castaway Club (who normally doesn't handle special services) and told them of my plight and in the typical Disney way, went beyond the call of duty, and were able to cancel it for us.:D

I thanked them profusely, and told them how it's given me piece of mind.

Now I can really look forward to our trip. I hope to post a report soon after we return!

I'm glad things worked out for you!! Because it was Disney, somehow I knew they would!!

Have a great trip. Please bring us back a trip report!!!:wave2:

If you really are going to Orient Beach, do it on your own, not with the DCL excursion. You'll save a ton of money on the trip. Taxi's are easy to rent at the pier, and they will pick you up at a specific time if you want them to.
