Does the November Panama Canal cruise ever fall over thanksgiving? My husband is hesitant because of our daughter missing too much school and said he would consider it if one of the weeks was thanksgiving break. I know 11/2021 isn’t released yet but I’m wondering if I shouldn’t get my hopes up?

Highly doubt it. DCL is not dumb. They get extra money from every guest sailing over thanksgiving. That’s a lot of money that will be left on the table. Having thanksgiving with a Panama Canal Cruise will not bring in too much more money.

Looking at the 2019 and 2020 schedules, I highly doubt it. They want to be in Galveston ASAP after Halloween to offer Merrytime cruises.

You may have a better chance of the westbound occurring over spring break. The 2020 WBPC partially coincides with ours although in 2021 it's in February. The scheduling of it really depends on where they want the Wonder to be and when.

Just my observation from having school aged kids (many years ago now)
November is a "wasted" month for school.
* Veterans Day
* "Grading" Day
* 1-2 "Comp Days" for Conferences
* 2-5 days off for Thanksgiving

and toss in an early release day or two and you have a wasted month

my advice is to Take the Kids Out Of School!! You can make it two weeks well spent on Vacation AND Education. We wish we did it more.

And by the time they go to Middle School / High School it becomes MUCH more difficult to take them out of school ... NOT because of "school" but because of Sports and Other activities that REQUIRE you to be at all practices / performances / games.

We did it this year and pulled our third grader from school. It was an absolutely amazing experience and we’d do it again in a heartbeat. I might hesitate much past 4th grade though. He stayed after school a couple of times with his teacher before we left, so she could get him up to speed on the new stuff she was giving him to work on while we were away. He got all of his work done and came back to school for only a half day (including a math test) the Monday of Thanksgiving week before the school's Thanksgiving break started. In total, I think he was in school 4.5 days for the month of November. 😝 Anyway, it was ABSOLUTELY worth it. There are so many special things that only happen on the PC cruise and the kids are treated like rock stars. Servers aren’t rushed at dinner because there are so few people on the cruise (staterooms were all booked, but most were only double occupancy) and the Club/Lab had anywhere between 5 and 35 kids the entire time - we always asked to get a laugh. Honestly, it was more difficult for me to make sure I had coverage, so no balls got dropped at work over those 2.5 weeks, than it was for my son missing school.

Agreed (although in our case the school workload has significantly increased from elementary to middle school to high school to the point that our 9th grader indicated he didn't want to miss school in November anymore).

Well, I would recommend you know the "rules" for your school system.

My granddaughter is in 1st grade and missed 6 days for a Halloween cruise and one day when her bus was late to school one morning. Yes, she is liable if the bus is tardy!!! In our county, vacations and tardys are unexcused absences. If my daughter and granddaughter have any more unexcused absences, she will be reported to Child Protection Services.

So, I'm sure my granddaughter's school system is not going to ignore a 2 week cruise, no matter which month.

That’s interesting in my kids school Nov and April are the two ”don’t miss” months when all the major projects and tests for each semester are due. They get 2 days for Thanksgiving but none of the other days you listed.
