Do you prefer Palo brunch or dinner, and which night of a 4 night would you suggest booking? Thank you!

I like Palo dinner on Pirate night, no matter the ship or length of cruise (>4 nights). I prefer what I chose to order for dinner over brunch menu and really don’t enjoy Pirate menu.

Brunch = chicken parm. Dinner = excellent filet and chocolate soufflé. Discovered how good the arugula salad was last time. Also like the butternut squash ravioli. I try to stay close to $45. I have strayed from the filet on occasion, but come back to it most cruises.

I would pick dinner over brunch, even before they quit offering the buffet selections.

And I enjoy being in Palo as the sun is setting more than being there during the brightness of day.

Wow! That is making me hungry! :) The filet and chocolate soufflé sounds amazing! When you say that you try to stay close to $45 what do you mean? Do you have to pay for each menu item? I was thinking it was a set $45 to eat at Palo and all was included? Maybe I am incorrect?

They have a Prix Fixe (fixed price) menu for $45. Four courses, chose one item for each course.

(Many of us have a complimentary dinner from Disney as a loyalty reward and can get a free brunch or dinner - the fixed price or a $45 credit to apply to our meal).

You can also chose to order a la carte. You may go under $45 or well over. Filet (6 oz) us $25, no sides, and soufflé is $10. That would actually be enough for me, as there is so much food over the course of the cruise.

Last time I took photos of my dinner at Palo. September on the Dream. (I find all Palo meals equally good in food quality - since my first in 2010.

Butternut squash ravioli and Dover sole. No photo of the soufflé - it’s the victim of familiarity in my memory world.

Both excellent. But it was back to filet the next month.

Brunch menu

I think this is all you care to eat. Not an either/or. Someone should let us know if I got that part incorrect.

If you can’t book a table pre-cruise, check once onboard. There is a designated place to do dining reservations on boarding day. They do not fill the restaurants with online bookings. And tables for 1-2 are limited online.

We prefer Brunch over dinner but since it is a 4 night cruise, I would try to get dinner scheduled on Pirate night. The pirate night menu, in my opinion, is not good.
Almond croissants, pastries & Chicken parmesan with risotto are brunch favorites! AT dinner my hubby loves the Dover sole, my kids and I get the filet! A lot of great choices at both!

It used to be that way. But the land version of Disney (WDW) and its cutting back or eliminating and increasing prices has found its way on to their ships. :rotfl:☹️

Palo now? If I had to pay I would skip it, it's not the same as before. No brunch buffet, limited prix fixe menu for dinner with overpriced a la carte items if you don't like the prix fixe. Remember one of the draws on cruise ships was that the food was included in the price. Obviously they are drifting away from that.

Do they still debobe the sole at the table?

I can’t remember. I almost think he did, then spooned the topping on. I would not testify to it, either way, in court.

I only have one clear memory of seeing a fish deboned tableside - at a Vietnamese wedding reception in a Chinese seafood restaurant. Nearly 30 years ago. It was impressive. Not just the procedure, though, the entire reception. I was at a table with all the European descendants (out of ~200). We made a pact that everyone would try everything. At least a no-thank-you serving. The meal ended with a creamy walnut soup. That’s one meal when I would use a way-back machine to take photographs on a phone.

We were just on the Wish B2B, and we did brunch on the four night and dinner on the three night. I lean heavily to brunch, though I enjoy Palo dinner, too. While the old brunch buffet was awesome, we found that the Wish brunch menu was exceedingly more than enough food. Plus, at brunch, you can order the gorgonzola and grape pizza (off menu), which is basically my favorite food item on DCL. We went a la carte when we did dinner on the Wish, so that was definitely more expensive than going for brunch. I found the prix fixe menu pretty limited at dinner, especially given we were very familiar with the Palo dinner menu. If we had never been, we'd likely have gone that route and been perfectly happy.

If you want to do dinner, then definitely go for Pirate Night, though that's a popular plan, but it works fine if you are platinum and/or concierge.
