We will be vacationing in Palm Springs next month and want to do a day trip (possible overnight) to Disney Land. Can anyone tell me the easiest route and about how long of a drive? What are best days to go? How far is Anaheim from Dana Point? Have heard there are some great restaurants overlooking the ocean there. (Thinking romantic dinner  )

Thanks for your help!

wow, Palm Springs isn't very close to DL (or Dana Point). To get to DL from Palm Springs the easiest route is the I-10 west to the I-215 south--stay on it as it turns into the 91 west. Stay on that until you get to the 57 and go south on that, get off on Ball Road, go right. Make a left on Disneyland Drive and that will take you into the Mickey & Friends parking structure. My guess on how long this will take you--well over 2 hours, probably more if you're doing this on a weekday since you'd have to leave Palm Springs really early to miss the traffic into OC. As for getting to Dana Point, from DL take the I-5 south and you'll get there (might have to drive through San Juan Capistrano a little on surface streets). If you're trying to get there from Palm Springs (ok, who wants to drive 3+ hours for dinner?) try highway 79 (I think west) up to the north I-15 to west highway 74 (the Ortega highway). Neither of these highways are fun to drive (at least to me) because they consist of winding mountain roads. But they are pretty.

Another route you can take from Palm Springs would be Take the 10 west all the way to the 57, and go south. Get off on Ball or Katella & both will take you to the DLR area. You are looking at a 1.5-2 hour drive, depending on traffic, so it might be a good idea to stay overnight...

Then again, I've gone to San Diego just for the day, and that is a 2-hour drive for me.

Dana Point is about 45 minutes south of Disneyland. Get on the 5 south (right near DLR), and take it all the way to San Juan Capistrano, then head towards the beach area to reach Dana Point.

Of course, these are pretty general directions.

Thanks so much for the feedback. Guess it sounds like we should pick one or the other as a side trip. DH has never been to DL, so I guess I'm leaning in that direction. Are any days of the week better to avoid the traffic?

Thanks,
