DH & I will be taking DS, who will be almost 3 to WDW for a week in May this year. I am curious about PAL Mickey. Who has experience with it? Is it worth the purchase? How much does it cost? Or is it just a PITA to have to keep up with a stuffed Mickey at the parks all day?

It seems like a really neat doll. I wish I had one when I was little! I'm just looking for insight/opinions for others who have purchased the PAL.

We LOVED PAL Mickey on our trip in 2004, and we plan to buy another one on our trip this year. We had so much fun with him--the trivia especially. We love trivia. He would point out little things in our environment that we might not have noticed otherwise. His ability to tell us meet n' greet and parade times wasn't very reliable...perhaps it is moreso now with the new model? We loved him saying hello and goodbye as we entered and exited the parks. We didn't play many games, but I suspect it would be a great way to pass some time with the little one while waiting in lines. And sometimes we felt like downright celebrities, with as many people who approached us to ask about him. We met some really neat people that way, so he was somewhat of a social ambassador as well. :)

He was worth every penny! Get him!

PalMickey is worth it to buy!! We got him in December and I still pull him out to "play" with at home. My daughter is now just four and she enjoyed having him to talk to in the parks, especially during any lines.

My understanding is you can update your Pal Mickey everytime you visit the park so you get any new information they have added. That means you do not have to purchase a new one each time you go. They can apparently update the microchip inside him.

At any rate, it was enjoyable to have him with us everywhere we went. He is cuddly and full of really great information. If you want to you can get buy him different clothes to match each park.

I would get Pal Mickey for sure. Have a wonderful time on your trip!!!

If you buy him be careful not to take your eyes off of the little guy. We had a miscommunication and he was stolen from our carriage in about 2 minutes. I personally think that he is hard to hear, and a nuisance to keep track of. I wouldn't pay full price for him. (I got ours on sale.)

I bought Pal Mickey last year (I think he was $60-$65) at the park the day we arrived. The year prior, we rented one - you used to be able to rent them for the length of your stay but now you cannot. Here's the thing...

I would consider him a "Disney Fanatic Novelty thing". He is cute and tells jokes and it is pretty cool how he knows which park you are in and where you are in the park (you walk by Haunted Mansion and he starts telling you ghost jokes etc) but I wouldn't say he serves much purpose other than that.

You can't put him down while you go on a ride (he'll get taken) but he comes with a lanyard or belt clip so it is easy enough to clip him to your shorts and carry on. I must be honest that by the end of the day, you have stuck him in a bag - he doesn't shut up that Mickey!!

I am glad I have him and he's been stuck here in Canada waiting for his next trip back. The kids like him but they tire of him too after a few hours. I would say I bought him more for me than them - besides, I think if you drop him you could seriously damage his "electronics" so he's not really a "toy".

I'll be honest and say that I have from time to time turned him on this winter just to be reminded of the Parks and hear the voice of Mickey Mouse. When you have him back home he justs plays games and does trivia with you.

I have recently been made aware that there are websites dedicated to this little guy and a whole line of clothing is avaialble for him - didn't know that. I just like him becuase he is a constant reminder of the Happiest Place on Earth!

PAL Mickey was enjoyable for my DD(9 at the time). The clip is not the best, and you really cannot hear him well much of the time if you don't bring him closer to your head. When we returned, I put him away for the next trip (June 07- yeah!). We never left him unattended, so theft was not an issue for us, and we did not bring him to every park everyday. If you are willing to babysit him during your touring time, go for it.

Hrm, I wouldn't consider myself a fanatic, and I don't have a propensity collect things just to collect them. He was fun and practical, and I would recommend him even to "non fanatics".

I will add that the originals were improved upon. The clasp on the originals was always coming undone, so later PAL's had that upgraded. Also, the first ones were quieter, and you sometimes missed what he had to say as a result. They made future models a little louder. So it is worth it to buy a 3.0 now if you own a 1.0. I intend to.
