Pal Mickey Update

There were some posts before we left about updating Pal Mickey in the park. Someone posted you can't do it. Well, we just got back and we updated our Pal Mickeys on Main Street. There is a Pal Mickey store next to the candy shop. They put Mickey's nose into a machine, hit a few buttons and viola! updated!

This is the first time we had a Pal Mickey and LOVED him! What great fun and info!

Is there anywhere besides the parks to purchase one? I checked Ebay, but with the reserve prices, and shipping it is not worth my while. What's a girl to do?

Do a search on the budget board. I was able to order one for $13.00 a few months back. I think it was through Disney Outlets or something like that. These Pal's were discounted because they were coming out with a newer version. Don't know what the newer version does, but we had a blast with our $13.00 one!

updates with new rides and such added? We enjoyed him although he wasn't all that useful in our opinion. He did calm a screaming toddler on one of our buses, the mom sure loved him! ;o)

I bought a Pal Mickey for $19.99 and $10 shipping. It got here in two days! It was still in the original box (with untapered-with tape), and came in the Disney World shopping. (I think my bf will more excited about the bag. He has a thing about shopping bags). It is a the classic Mickey ( I think the new one has Mickey dressed in a tux). We are planning on giving it to my Nephew if he wants it than buying another from ebay when we get home.

Is this different then the update that is suppose to occur as you walk in the park?

That is great news!! We are leaving for WDW on Saturday and wondered if you can have Pal Mickey updated at any of the parks? I don't have a solid schedule planned yet but if MK is the only place to have it updated then we will head there first. We purchased him right when he came out a few years back and take him EVERYTIME. Of course we paid $60 for him back then so I am determined to get use out of him. But he is sooooo cool!!!
Does anyone know if it works at Disneyland? I forget to take him when I went a couple of years ago but truthfully didn't notice anyone carrying one.

I posted this about a year ago on another My Pal Mickey thread but it keeps coming up in our house: My DH swears that Mickey jumps on his chest (while I am alseep) in the middle of the night (because he sits on my nightside table-Mickey that is) and says "He he he Pal-It's time to go back to Disneyworld". (amongst other things-like where is all your money and how come you haven't bought more disney stock- stuff like that)

Did it cost you anything to update it? Not that it matters. I want my Mickey as current as possible!

No cost to update. Just take him in to the Pal Mickey shop. The CM said 'does your Pal Mickey need a check-up?". We said, he needs an update. The CM put his little nose in a machine and pushed a few buttons. The times on Pal Mickey were correct for parade times, etc. We did this twice as we have two Pal's and had different CM's both times. Got the same response!

YES... THIS IS THE CORRECT INFO.

Pal Mickeys "OLD" or "NEW"
DO NOT NEED TO BE UPDATED BY A CM AT THE PARK.

This entire thread has a lot of confusing information on it.

Yes, you CAN get a free "re-program" (thru PM's NOSE) at the PM store on Mainstreet in the MK.

But 99.44% of the time, this is NOT NEEDED.

Only if your PM is experiencing PROBLEMS (Not Talking, Not responding) do you need to have him "re-programmed" (not exactly an UPDATE, just a "re-boot" of sorts.

ALL THE CURRENT "NEW" INFO about shows, parades, and attractions will AUTOMATICALLY download to PM (ANY PM) as you enter the park(s) and as you pass by certain attractions.

So don't panic, and don't get excited about needing to UPDATE an "old" PM.

Just carry the little feller into a park (don't keep him inside a tote, but carry him OUTSIDE in the open) and enjoy his "groaner jokes" tailored for each park, and his fun facts and info about the current attractions.

Under normal circumstances, you should not need to UPDATE any Pal Mickey.

If he's wigglin', gigglin' and offering jokes and information, he's "updated" already and working fine.
