I have a weekday off so I'm tackling the basement walls the walls with white rolls are almost gone. We have Berber carpet down there with a brownish suede couch. I'm going to have my mom sew some curtains and put a different cover over a large Pillow that the kids use down there. Our oldest is now a teenager so I'm trying to make it teen friendly. I see I will need one more gallon of paint going to pick it up when I take my DD to the orthodontist today. Hoping to stop by Joanne fabrics so she can pick out the pattern she would like for the curtains and pillow. Do you guys have any ideas for wallhangings I think we have an old map that I might put on one wall.
Ran upstairs for a quick sandwich, now back to painting I am on a time budget too today. I will probably have to finish the painting this weekend.

I don't know what your kids are into, but for my kids hang out area we found a neon guitar shaped wall clock and a poster with neon fish on it all the same color, swimming in one direction, except for one fish, different color, opposite direction. The poster says "Dare to be Different". We got those for cheap just recently (dorm room decorating time) at Big Lots. We also have a Beatles poster on another wall (the cover of Abbey Road) because my kids are huge music fans. The wall behind the couch has framed caricatures that were done of my kids this summer. The room has a kind of retro-y rock and roll vibe to it. White walls, lime green curtains and a neon color blocked rug We didn't put up a ton of pictures because we want to find just the right ones but I'm thinking the ones we have may be enough. There are only 2 big walls and those are filled in nicely with the Beatles poster and the caricatures.

Tape paper on there for a graffiti wall. You can get the paper rolls at the dollar store or party city...Staples etc. If you really want fun, put a black light in and leave highlighter markers there. My "kids" are 23 and 19 and their friends still draw/message on ours every time they come over. Once it's filled, recycle and pop another roll up. I put 3 rows up to cover floor to ceiling. Painters tape holds it up w-out damaging your newly painted walls. I also taped cheap plastic table cloths to the wall first and then the paper roll..just as another layer to protect my fancy cement walls, lol.:rotfl: An added bonus? If there is any message or picture that is a keeper, you can cut it out and frame it. Beware tho..some things can be, well...at the maturity level of a teen :rolleyes1
