Hey guys... I am not sure if anyone else has heard this, but when I was at my planning session in July, my EM (Karen) mentioned to me that the Magic Kingdon Castle is going to be painted Gold for a celebration (cant remember which celebration). I am getting married March 26, and she told me it is very possible it will be painted when I get married, if not very soon after! Has anyone else heard about this, and if so, has anyone heard a time frame on it??

She said they were expecting it to look very nice. But, did anyone see it when they painted it pink... i didnt care for it!!!

Not to sound like a downer...BUT, we were planning on doing the MK Bridal Portraits and I would hate for it to be gold in the background. I think it's gorgeous the way it is right now!

I absolutley understand!! But, who knows how long they will have it that color... Could only be a few months.

I hope you're right, Jamie! :sunny:

We're getting married in October, so maybe it will be back to normal by then?! Keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed...

The castle is going to be painted in honor of Disneyland's 50th anniversary celebration. The last rumors I had heard about this they were only going to paint the castle with gold accents, which could be very pretty. I'm not sure if a definite plan/picture has been released . I know there was a rendering floating around of what the Disneyland castle is going to look like for the celebration, but I haven't seen one for the WDW castle.

I was not a fan of the pink castle, and I hope that whatever painting they do to it this time around is not nearly as drastic as that!

I'll never forget the year of the pink castle... Now everyone knows why we didn't do the MK photo shoot and went to EPCOT!!!! I guess this is a bright side, they may have kept the overlay for the window in the WP that made it look like a stained glass version of the proper castle. We had the option of having it up or down, we went with up. I do wish though, since it was only for a year, that we would have had just one photo done with the pink castle there - that is a once in a lifetime chance.

I am not sure exactly what they are doing, but what she told us was that the castle would be gold. She also told us it would be possible to use the overlay for the window as well, but I dont think we will. From the Pavilion I dont think the gold will be that drastic in color from where the guests are seated!! Now I dont blame you for using it during the "pink" year!! That was hiddeous and would have been obvious in pictures!

Im hoping they do it after our wedding, but im guessing it will be gold. My EM seemed to think it would be done in the beginning to mid March at the latest.

Keeping my fingers crossed!!

Jamie

Actually a lot of couples have heard that the entire castle won't be painted gold (seems DL may have a more gold Castle) and that it will have some accents that are gold.

Best bet is to again ask your EM/SM to clarify and to share with you the correct information as soon as they get the official word.

FTW did maintain the window overlay from the pink issue to cover the Pavillion window should this happen again.

Does anyone have any photos of the infamous pink castle that they wouldn't mind sharing? (Not necessarily wedding/honeymoon photos) Before this thread, I had no idea that WDW ever did this!

Thanks! :earsgirl:

I'll have DH scan a couple - we have some we took on our wedding trip and it was still that way on our 1st anniversary. I'm betting the gold will be pretty, but the pink looked a bit cartoonish... Okay - it looked really cartoonish!

well, you all seem like you may not want it, but I would be sooo excited to have something this interesting going on during my wedding. I told my fiance and he was very excited. Like you say, how many people will have pics of that?!!
Has anyone confirmed this officially. From what I understand, they are doing the DL castle, but noone seems to think that they are doing the one in WDW.
I am under the impression though, that if they are offering you an overlay for the WP, that it must be accurate-right?
