We have a 2004 Nissan Titan. The paint on the hood and roof is deteriorating and peeling off. This truck has 117,000 miles on it, but is actually running well. My husband drives about ten miles a day round trip for work, so this is his vehicle and it's been fine. However, the paint makes it look really bad, lately. I am not interested in spending more on a paint job than the truck is worth, but I'd like it to look decent for the last five years of it's life or so.

MAACO was suggested to me. I've read reviews that say it's not quality, but really I am not looking for top of the line, just something improve the look of the peeling paint. I'm taking it in for a quote next week, but I don't even have any idea of an approximate cost from MAACO. I'd been told $2,000, but then someone else told me around $1,000. It's a big truck, so it may cost more than a little car, I'd assume.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone had experience with MAACO and if they were sorry they used them. Also, what kind of vehicle did you have and what was the approxmate cost?

Thanks!

We used MAACO several years ago- like 19 or so- after I was in a minor accident. My car needed repair and paint- the insurance company wanted to total it. It was an older car, but still very much drivable except for the damage done by this other guy. We got a quote from MAACO that was less than the amount to total the car, so the insurance company agreed to pay for it. It was probably around $1000 or so. I remember thinking "I can't buy a car for what they want to give me to total it."

The work was fine. I would imagine that some are better than others. My dad happened to know the owners of the one we went to, and they treated us fairly. The body work/paint job got us through the next year, and then we sold the car anyway.

I decided to have my ECV get a custom paint job. I went to MAACO in South Orlando. I found out that Disney gets a lot of their work done at that shop, including all park trash cans. I was very satisfied with both the quality and price.

I believe Maaco offers different 'levels' of service. From what I've heard through the years, they are very affordable if you only need the paint job to last a few years. It sounds like you only expect a paint job to last a few years anyway so it may be a great option for you. I can't imagine it would cost $2,000...$1,000 maybe, or less.
