Oh I'm so excited!!! My wee girl (4 in March) LOVES the water and I used to take her to waterbabies when she was tiny, she was swimming underwater in Florida at 3 months, BUT the lessons got too far away with her teacher and I put her in local lessons but they all wanted them to wear armbands which DH wasn't keen on (he was a swimmer in his younger days lol). We used to take her every week but his work got busy and we got a bit lax, then when we started going back she was a wee bit over confident and jumping in at me, but no so keen on going under (I was taking her when DH was working and I was preg at the time) so I put her in armbands which she loves and swims up and down and up and down. ANYWAY she asked to give up ballet and go swimming so I've booked her lessons with a different company and am getting 1:1 lessons for her for little more than her ballet cost. She starts mid Feb, I am soooooooooo excited. She needs to be able to swim as DH's dad lives in Portugal and we try and get out every year so she's around water a lot plus any other hols we squeeze in...and so she can have fun at TL & BB!!! :yay:

Hope she enjoys them.
I remember getting my youngest ds into his 1st lot of swimming lessons all in preparation for his 1st disney trip.

Thanks hon,

I'd far rather get her into more local lessons but the only pool that offers 1:1 is closed for refurb until March and I feel 1:1 would bring back her confidence far faster and prob end up working out cheaper in the long run. It'll be mid Feb when she starts....new cossie for the occasion me thinks, prob Tinkerbell one!!

Our two have been in lessons since last May, and they love it. The confidence that they have developed is amazing. My DS would literally cling to you with white knuckles as he was so scared, I don't know why as he was taken swimming regularly since he was a baby.

Anyway... his lessons were always one to one, not because I paid any extra, it's just the way it worked out! Honestly I'm not sure whether this helped him in the longrun as he didn't have anyone to compete with, now he has just moved up a level in January and there is just him and another little boy in his class. They swim up and down like little fish trying to keep up with each other!

My DD loves her lessons and is down to just wearing one disk on each arm now, you may ask the teacher if they have these disks as they don't give anywhere near as much bouyancy than armbands so they have to work just that little bit harder to stay afloat! I'm hoping that she will be swimming by April when we go to WDW.

I hope that your DD likes her lessons :)

EXCELLENT !! ....... one of the most important lessons you can ever give your kids, not only practical but the world of fun you open them up because they can swim is immense, worth every penny .... well done you
