So today was another trip to the hospital. Good news, we hit remission with the first round of chemo. My numbers have improved and things look good.
The not so gooder news, I have another round of inpatient chemo next week to keep it suppressed. And in about 8 weeks will be undergoing a Stem Cell Transplant. Which will have me in the hospital for about 6 weeks. That transplant will wipe out my immune system completely and they will do the transplant, which starts me over like a newborn. I will need all the vaccinations that kids go thru once again. As I said at the start this is a marathon.
Recovery from the transplant can take up to a couple of years to fully recover from. But being healthy and younger, could do better.
They put me in the database and I have some donor matches already, they just want to rule out my sister as a donor. So a whirlwind visit today.
