Paging missing DIS'ers (oh yeah, sound too)

I have noticed over the past months a fair number (okay, a lot) of DIS'ers have seemed to have either dropped through the cracks here, or maybe worse, just dropped out. Whether from arguments, :duck: misunderstandings, :snooty: boredom, :faint: or just plain old 'tired of the ole place'. I agree it has felt a bit strange here over the months, I have used the words stilted and strained when DIS'ers have asked me in PM's and/or emails if I too noticed what they were feeling and saw.

Importantly, I have also noticed in the past few days, a few missing DIS'ers showing up, testing the waters as it is. :wave2: I have also felt a return to some of the lightheartedness and friendliness that have so long been a given here on the CB (okay, ya need a little family feudin' and fightin' once in awhile  ). I have received a few PM's from DIS'ers asking me if I have noticed that too (and much nicer noticing that than the other I mentioned above).

So, all this post/thead is for is to extend a hand, a group hand and group hug :grouphug: to all those who have sort of dropped out for a time here on the CB, to please say hello and give it a try again. Lord knows I have taken sabbaticals here, had my arguments and feuds, but, knowing this is family to me here, I have always returned.

This past Saturday, we had a meet here in Chicago. It was our regular Fall meet, but also sort of a goodbye meet for Dopeygirl (Tricia), who will most likely be moving from the Chicago area soon, her DH, Jim, now in the military. It was great, sharing time with DIS'ers, smiles, chit-chatting about Disney, the DIS (yeah, yeah, the good, bad and ugly), families, life. I have known Tricia for almost four years now, meeting her here, through the DIS, a cyber friend. Tricia is a real life friend today. A local DIS'er, MJames41 (Mark), new to DIS meets, though not the DIS, came by for his first DIS meet. Sort of reminded me a bit of The Lion King, the circle of life (okay, I know, sort of corny, but hey, that what is seemed like to me). Tricia will be moving, but will always be my friend, cyber, but today now, also real. Lady M (Marie), coming on to the DIS during a tough time for me some time back, has made a good number of DIS friends she enjoys seeing at meets (now if I can only get her to WDW, LOL) and online also.

It can be such a nice, fun place, if we let it happen. So, if you have not said hello here in a time, stop by, give us a :wave2: (oh, there are new smilies too). For others here, extend a welcome home for those who may have been bored, confused, hurt or whatever and just need that little extra to jump in again. Sound good??

I too have been here on the DIS quite a while and have seen its ups and downs. I have noticed that many DISers have been absent lately. For those of you who feel ready to come back, please do so--we miss you! It's all of us crazy Disney folks that make the DIS the great place that it is, even when there are difficult times too.

:grouphug:

Dan, Scotty just asked me last night if I had spoken to you lately.

I also miss the way things were....the closeness I once felt to this place. So many faces have come and gone over the years. I think if we ALL show some kindness, compassion and understanding to others, both here and in the real world, our whole outlook on life would change. We would all act like friends.....like a family. :grouphug:

With every bit of respect - I think it's equally important to recognize that not everybody can, will or wants to be part of the family. I think it's important that EVERYONE be accorded a level of respect and acceptance that shows that this place is an open, friendly place!

I'm very happy to count myself as a member of the family - I certainly feel it here, but I can understand and respect that others may not.

I think we could really get this place rockin' if we did that! :)

Nice post, Dan! Let's have some fun! :)

Even tho I haven't been a "Dis-er" for a long time, I always felt welcomed and everyone has been so friendly. Unfortunately, puter has been down for so long, and so many times, that DH finally gave up and got a new one. So am looking forward to getting "back on board again ".

msdznyduck:wave2: to all

I'm here to say "hi" Dan. Leave it to you to always wrap your arms around us all. :grouphug:

There are a couple of very opinionated posters who seem to enjoy seeking out my posts and picking a fight :duck:, so I chose to read and not post. I know I'm not alone here.

....but, thanks to you, I'm BACK!!!:wave2:

We know we can always count on you to say the right thing.

I have been around a lot longer than most of you. I read a lot but don’t post often because I now work full time outside the home. I work part time for my husband, I work around the house and my free time is spent doing what I love so much – quilting.

I also participate in another message board – www.alexandersonquilts.com and swap ideas have fun their too.

I am usually around more as my trips to WDW get closer to get more information and ideas. I have a trip to the world next week and then one again in November so I will be here getting tidbits till then.

I do enjoy all the posts and fun and games that goes on. The sadness and helplessness too.

Like anyplace else, we do have our moments!

Hi Dan! I am just hangin' out on this post because I am enjoying the music. ;)

I've never left the DIS except when on trips. I don't like seeing people leaving the DIS so when they do and come back, it's always a little bit nicer around here!

:wave2:

BTW.....I can't hear any music. :(

Hey, the music stopped before I got to read all the post. Oh, sorry, the music just started up again. Just dropping by to see what's up over here on the CB, most of my time is now spent on the cruise line board. We had such a MAGICal cruise this past August, that we booked onboard for next August, and are planning a return cruise in 2005 to celebrate my 50th Birthday.

Just a quick update for those that are still here that know my DW who had hip replacement surgery this past February, she is doing great with her new hip. It was just discovered within the past few weeks that she is now suffering from sleep apnea, and in the past few days has started using a CPAP machine while she sleeps. Her first sleep study revealed that she had stopped breathing 72 times during a six hour sleep. That's scary!!! DW seems to be adjusting to the machine rather well.

DD is now 13 and in the 8th grade, and getting more beautiful with each passing day(a photo she had taken on the cruise is to the left of my message). I have an extra large baseball bat sitting by the front door to keep the boys away, LOL!!!

:wave2: For Now

I could be one of the people Dan is referring to, but on the other hand, maybe nobody even noticed my absense.

I pop into the Cooking & Scrapping forum. Read & don't post too much anymore. I stop here about every other day & just check subjects on Pg 1 -- read what interests me. Alot of new names I don't know.

I guess I took a break after some agruements...and then realized I didn't miss it here as much as I thought I would. I frequent some scrapbooking boards & www.geocaching.com, but come winter time, maybe I'll be back here a little more.

:grouphug:

I'm a "family member" that just hasn't had a whole lotta time
lately. Its all good though! I've been working real hard training my dog for obedience competitions and I'm wicked happy to say that this weekend we placed 2nd in competition!!!!! For all you
DISers in the dog show world, you know the work that goes into
that!! I try to visit the the resort board during the week because I'm also planning my WDW trip for next summer!!!
Life is good......

Well, Dan, as I was doing my usual speed-reading I thought ...

Good GOD, Dan's telling us about his wife coming on to him!! Well, good for them.

Then I slowed down and saw she came on to the the DIS...ALL OF US????!!!!

Just kidding!

You da man, Dan! You always sum it up so nicely!!!

And I'd like to add a special welcome to the newbies!! The more the merrier!!

VM, welcome to the community board. Now you'll NEVER leave your computer! :wave2:

ROFLOL Dorothy! You crack me up.

Nice thoughts here, Dan. :sunny: I can see why people need a break from here from time to time, and I can even understand why people leave and don't come back - its tough to put yourself out there in cyberspace. Lots of room for nutcases and argumentative people, but for the most part, I have found people on the DIS to be easy going and friendly.

I guess its a personal decision for each individual, but like you, there are MANY people that I knew over the years that I have since lost touch with. :( Hope they find their way back here one day, but if not, I remember them fondly. :)

 I am still here, checking things out, and making sure I say: GO MARLINS!!!::yes:: ::yes:: I have taken your "hobby" of getting a "meet" going for my Nov. 6-9th trip!;) Hope it is a sucess, as quite a gew DIS-ers will be there around that time.:o Thanks for the:goodvibes and take care..Faith.

I too have been away from the Cb for awhile (not sure if anyone noticed or cared) but.. I too miss the way things were here!! I miss alot of people that made me laugh and touched my heart!!

Oh and by the wayMarie.. you really need tohgive Disney another shot!! It sure is a great time and going with a great person will make it that much more fun!!!! {{hugs}}:):)

I agree wholeheartedly!

And yes, yesterday was a fun day on the DIS!
