Does anyone have any great packing tips?

On our next WDW trip (8 nights stay) we will be traveling by plane. There will be 5 adults & 3 kids (ages 1, 4, & 7). We don't want to be too loaded down, but want to be sure we have what we need & pack it in the most efficient way.

Hi PF:

The one packing tip that's served me well over many years and many miles is this:

1. Make two piles of everything you think you'll need: one of all the cash, credit cards and/or traveller's checks and the other of everything else.

2. Now halve the second and double the first.

I find this especially useful at WDW.

Remember, money is lighter than clothes......and you can't trade a tee shirt for a Dole Whip in Adventureland!

Have a great trip.

Be very sure not to just give each person a suitcase and have them pack all their own clothes into it.

It's much better if you pack a little bit of everyone's things in each suitcase. That way, if one of the suitcases gets lost while flying, everyone will still have some clothes to wear.

Also, be sure to pack into a carryon anything that you could not do without for 1 night; I always put all medications, glasses/contacts, deodorant plus a change of clothes (at the very least a pair of undies and a shirt) into my carry on.

People also suggest packing your swim suits in your carry on so you and the kids can change and use the pool while you wait for your room.

Hope this helps!!

Remember that you'll need more shirts than shorts or pants. If you're going in the summer, you may want to change at least your shirt at your midday break. Denim shorts and jeans can be worn all day or even more than once when it's not too hot if you need to save space and you didn't spill anything on them.

You also can't have too many pairs of socks.
