I have learned from experience not to travel without medicine for my kids. I have 3 gallon size bags full of stuff I need to take. 2 bags with over the counter cold type medicine, such as tylenol, motrin, sudafed, cough syrup, etc and the other is full of prescriptions. Is there any regulation against carrying this much medicine? I thought about letting my husband take 1 bag and I take the other two. Do you think this will cause any problems?

no issues i can think of.

i would take your prescriptions in your carry on (that's what i do), in case your luggage gets lost, and put the rest in your luggage (in a pinch you can buy OTC in the hotels).

No regulations against medications for personal use. If you have 50 kinds of medications that doesn't matter, you'll be fine. The only way you'll raise eyebrows is if you have a lot of UNMARKED medications (i.e., not in original containers/prescription bottles), or if you have a heckuva lot of one type. What I mean is, if you have 100 bottles of cough syrup (MUCH more than for personal use, I HOPE!!! :rotfl: ), they might want to talk to you for a minute.

Depending on what state you are travelling from, large amounts of Sudafed (100 tablets or more) may draw the attention of local law enforcement. I know that it has been an issue at STL, my home airport -- crackdowns on the movement of methamphetamine ingredients are serious business here.

I hear you...I do the samething. I carry it all on (since I never know when one DS might have an allergic reaction), and I don't want my pills taken from my travel bags while being searched. I have id for any prescriptions, and a cough/headache/benydral always comes with me for son.
