We're so excited for our first DVC trip as members next week! We'll be in a 1 bedroom at BLT, and I have a few questions about what I might need to bring...

1. Should I bring dish soap and dishwasher detergent? I thought they had some in the rooms, but I wasn't sure if it a good supply or if they will restock it for free.

2. Somewhere I read that some rooms don't have spatulas. Do I need to bring one if I'm making eggs?

3. Anybody know the internet situation at BLT? I assume it is wired internet. Where is the cable? Should I bring a longer ethernet cord or wireless router?

4. Do they restock shampoo and hand soap? Can I get more if we run out, or do they charge for it?

5. Anything you always make sure you bring that people tend to forget?

Thanks so much for the help!

you get two packages of diswasher, and not anymore until towel and trash. Some have reported getting more from housekeeping without charge.

You will get a small bottle of liquid sink detergent.

Not sure about spatulas, we had one at SSR.

Wired internet, in the master bedroom.

shampoo and hand soap, same situation some have said they were not charged, others were. We have never run out before towel and trash day.

There is usually plenty - but if you need more, they will restock for free. Just ask!

Can't remember about spatulas, per say, but there are ample cooking utensils.

3. Anybody know the internet situation at BLT? I assume it is wired internet. Where is the cable? Should I bring a longer ethernet cord or wireless router?
The cable hook-up is usually in the living room/and or bedroom. A wireless router would make your internet experience better, without a doubt.

4. Do they restock shampoo and hand soap? Can I get more if we run out, or do they charge for it?
You can get more as you need it. No charge. They usually restock this on Trash/Towel day along with things for the kitchen.

5. Anything you always make sure you bring that people tend to forget?
Salt and pepper (as they no longer supply these) if you intend to cook.

Thanks so much for the help!

Might I suggest you look into getting an Owner's Locker if you plan to vacation often at WDW (which I assume you will as you have joined DVC!)
Then you can keep all those things that will make your visit "Home" without having to pack/bring them each trip. Have a GREAT first trip!!

Hi Swimmergirl! We are leaving in less than 30 days now...woo hoo! We will also be staying for the first time at BLT in a 1 bedroom. Could you let me know how it goes when you get back if you have any tips? Thanks and have a terrific time!! So excited for you!

i've never had a hard time getting more dish soap and dishwasher soap.....i just asked. i always bring my own shampoo/conditioner/body soap. one thing i always bring is those Purex laundry sheets!!! they travel easy and act as a laundry detergent and a dryer sheet. Best invention for those that do laundry on vacation!

Currently sitting in our beautiful BLT 1br lake view (partial MK) on the 11th floor. This is our 1st trip as DVC members & this is day 4 out of 7.
Dish soap is a 3.75 oz palmolive soap, 4 dishwasher packets and a sponge to wash/wipe up.
There are 2 types of spatulas, slotted spoons, a ladel, measuring cups & spoons, large knifes, a peelers even a grater. Non-stick cooking pans, baking sheet, strainers, pyrex dishes, a pitcher & a set of containers with lids.
We have a mickey bar soap, a shampoo, conditioner, shower gel & 4 sets of towels in each bathroom.
The internet connection is in the bedroom on the desk. We brought our wireless router from home & it works great. They provide a cable to connect but its rather short.
As of right now the only thing that I would bring is a dish wash cloth because I don't like the sponge & another hand soap for the 2nd bathroom.
Oh and also some glass wipes, because the big smear on the window is driving me crazy!!! :lmao:

Welcome Home! I always bring a salt and pepper grinder to DVC. That way, when I make eggs, I can grind on some coarse sea salt and fresh pepper. Once I brought ice cube trays to ensure I had plenty of ice for slushy drinks, but I received too much teasing from the rest of the group to do that again (and we had enough ice when we needed it).

You might want to take a look at the DVC Member website where they list the accommodations, room amenities, and perks.

:earsboy: Bill

The amenities in each DVC villa is also listed on page 14 in the new Vacation Planner, Membership Portfolio that is being mailed out now. The Mousekeeping information is listed on page 15. Or list disneynutz mentioned you can find the information on the MS website.

As far as I know you get more shampoo, conditioner and soaps on your Trash and Towel Day, day 4, or during your Full Cleaning day, day 8. If you want more than that you are supposed to purchase them. At BLT you'll have two bathrooms and each bathroom will have a set of all of the bathroom items.

Here's what the MS website says about purchases.

Pay As You Play

With Pay As You Play service, you'll be provided with the following amenities free of charge at the start of your stay. After that, you may purchase more for the following fees:
Toiletries Package, $5.00 - 1 facial soap, 1 bath soap, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 shower gel
Coffee Package, $3.00 - 1 package of coffee, 8 sugars, 8 creamers, 8 artificial sweeteners
Towel Package, $6.00 - 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 4 washcloths, 1 bath mat
Laundry Detergent (only in One-, Two-, and Three-bedroom Vacation Homes), $1.00 - 1 box

I know if you run low any paper products Mousekeeping will give you whatever you need at no cost.

Have a great trip home.

If you are coffee drinkers, bring extra coffee AND coffee filters! Or plan to buy them there...which is a hassle if you don't have a car.

We always pack a power strip or extension cord. Between the laptop, the camera charger, the phone chargers, the iPod charger etc etc we always need more places to plug things in.

Also, I always pack a pump dispenser of liquid hand soap. I don't like using bar soap just to wash my hands - it wastes a lot of water (at least it seems so to me) Plus I like saving the bar soap to take home - I LOVE that soap in the shower! :lmao:

We have get to cook in our DVC villa LOL - It seemed like such a great idea - but I'm not one to leave the parks in the middle of the day - or for dinner.

However, I'm sure we will do that someday - until then - it's the DDP for us!

After a trip or two, see John here . .
