I am heading back to The World this year, but at a very different time than I have come to know. I have only been to WDW in September, and this year, we have a December trip planned!

I am specifically looking for advice on what I should pack clothing-wise. In September, it seems easier: dress for hot hot hot all the time. Even nights are hot there, so I don't have to ever pack for chillier weather.

In December, I understand it can get colder at night, and the days are much easier than the sticky-hot I am used to. I am going the Friday after Thanksgiving through the first full week of December.

So, dear Dis'ers. Tell me what kinds of stuff you pack for your trips in early December! :laundy:

Packing for December can be a challenge. The temps can be anything from shorts and t-shirt weather to winter jacket. The best advice is to pack layers. If you bring regular top's, a sweatshirt and a windbreaker then some combination thereof will be appropriate for what ever you encounter.

We go every Dec and the weather can be in the 80's during the day and at night it can be in the 40's. So my advice is layers. I even carry a pair of mittens in my bag. The prices in DW can be very expensive for stuff you already have.

We have gone 2 times in December.

In 2004 it was 30 degrees and raining which made it even more cold.

In 2006 it was nearly 80 practically the whole time we were there dropping down to 50 at night.

So as the posters said before pack layers. It's your best bet, and definitely, in my opinion, do not forget to pack those gloves, hats, and jackets.

I would also check out http://www.wunderground.com/ it has a trip planner, it's not full proof, of course, since this is mother nature we are talking about but it does give you somewhat of an idea as to what your going to be dealing with.

We will be there the first week of December this year also and I am hoping it will be nice. But, on the other hand if it's not we will still be at Disney and no matter what the weather we will still have a great time. :)

I visited last year DEc 15-25. It was not too bad, low 70's - high 60's for the most part. It is really tough to pack in December and with paying for checked luggage it will even be more difficult. I wore khakis and capris for the most part. I wore shorts twice I think. As long as you are in the sun it is warm, but as soon as it you shade it will be chilly. Layers are a good idea. I brought a couple of fleece vests that were perfect. Anything that you are tying around your waist or carrying in a tote is good idea. There were a couple nights that were downright cold. Luckily traveling out of snowstorm in Ohio I was prepared with gloves and scarves for both of us! YOu literally pack for summer during the day and late fall (from a mid-West perspective.)

HAve a great time!

We went last December 1-7 and were wearing capris and tshirts during the day and then jeans and sweatshirts at nights. We drove from the midwest, so we had jackets with us as well- I'd suggest bringing a light weight jacket for the evenings. Mittens may not be a bad thing, either, or a stocking cap- the parades and such can be cold at night during that time.

Have fun! We love WDW in December!!

I've been to WDW the last several years during December. I have worn shorts and t shirts every trip, except for one. December '05, I think it was, we almost froze. It was freezing down there. I'm talking heavy coat, tobaggan, gloves freezing. I didn't know Florida could get that cold. Since then I've always packed a variety of clothes for our Dec trips (shorts, t shirts, capris, long pants, fleece jackets, and yes a heavy coat, gloves, and hat). It may not be exact, but take a look at accuweather.com to get an idea of the ten day forecast for the week you'll be down there.

We will be heading to WDW this December, and have a plan of attack for dealing with the variable weather. Will be packing 'switchbacks' pants--they are long pants with zippers to convert them to shorts when it is warm enough. DS originally got a pair for scouts, but now has several pairs in different colors. Gotta love the versatility of being able to start with long pants if it is cool in the AM, convert to shorts during mid-day heat, and then zip the legs back on for long pants again after sundown. I plan to pick some up for myself between now and then--most of the outdoors/sporting goods type places carry them in stock.

We also tend to dress in layers. Hoodies or a long sleeve shirt or jacket over a tank or tee when it is cool. During mid-day, we stash these into a light weight backpack, then pull 'em back out as needed. I have a special travel backpack that folds down into a very small packet, which easily fits into a pocket or clips onto a belt loop when not in use... so we don't even need to go through bag check when entering the parks.
