Packing a small coffee pot?

We will be staying at the Pop and since they don't have coffee pot's there, I was wondering if anyone packed on in thier checked luggage? I was going to buy just a 4 cup and bring coffee packs with me. Thing is I don't want someone wondering what the heck is in my luggage when they scan it. Has anyone packed one and was there a problem? I really need my morning coffee! My DH will think I'm crazy for packing one, but he knows how grumppy I can be without it as soon as I wake up. Thanks for any info and hints about it.

They are very likely to check your luggage if you have a coffee maker in it. I've never flown when my luggage wasn't checked and it's really not a big deal if you're not carrying anything you shouldn't. I've never had anything missing and I fly a LOT, so there have been many opportunities for someone with sticky fingers to take an item here or there.

Even without the coffee maker it's possible your luggage will be checked.

I haven't packed a coffee pot, but I do carry instant coffee, (tasters choice gourmet roast) a large ceramic mug, and a heat coil to heat the water in the ceramic mug before I add the coffee.
I have to do this before I can get moving to get ready!
If you like instant coffee (I think it's pretty good, I usually have Starbucks or Caribou at home) I think this will save you bag space.

My in-laws travel extensively and they ALWAYS have their trusty coffee pot with them. If they have ever had any problems with getting it on an airline or a ship, I haven't heard about it. Personally, I don't drink coffee but I shudder to think what a trip with the in-laws would be like without them having the java first thing in the morning. You are not crazy for packing it. My husband would die without a couple of Diet Cokes when he wakes up.

We always bring a kettle when we travel. Makes hot chocolate, coffee, tea, instant oatmeal, cup a soup. I couldn't picture life without it.
