Packet Pickup

Hey all. I am kinda screwed right now. I booked the Goofy's challenge for my sister and her boyfriend assuming the policy with packet pickups was unchanged (my mistake). Well, as it happens, runners can no longer fill out authorization forms, but must pick-up in person. This really screws us up as it was my responsibility to pick up their packets (since they arrive Friday after ESPN closes). I have been doing some research and have heard of a "race-day unpublicized pickup". Has anyone heard of this? Is it real and do we know if it will be taking place this year? We don't care about the "packet" itself with the T-Shirt and all that, but the Bib itself. Thanks everyone.

I would call and explain your situation, and see what they say.

Your best bet is to call runDisney or Track Shack and plead your case. The FAQ for the weekend addresses this pretty clearly. "Is Packet Pick-Up available the morning of the race? No, all the Walt Disney World® Weekend race packets must be picked up at the Walt Disney World® Weekend Expo and will *not* be available the day of the race."

Hi Everest Sherpa, I had the same issue, as my husband was going to arrive two days after me, but coming from California, he was not getting to Disney in time to get to the expo to pick up his bib for the 10K the next day. I called Run Disney, and was told that although they WOULD NOT let me pick up his bibs when I went to the Expo on Wednesday, the runners relations tent at the race staging area would be open an hour prior to race time, and they would give him a temporary bib. Then later that day we could go back to the expo and get his half marathon bib and tee shirts.

Run Disney does not want every single runner to know this to avoid thousands of people trying to do this, so it is not posted in the FAQ's.

Same here. My husband is military and we found out he has drill that weekend. He's looking to fly in on time to still run, but we hoped I could pick up his packet. No go. I was told, though, that they will be out there starting at 3am and will have bibs for those unable to pick up. Not just temp ones, which is what I was told by someone else prior to speaking with a Run Disney rep. We still have to go to the Expo to get his goody bag, but at least he'll have his bib!
