Here are a couple of pictures of our precious new baby girl.
This was taken just a few minutes after she was born.

Here is Adara at 3 days old, in her leaving the hospital outfit.
th_AdaraDelivery085.jpg

My husband's grandmother knit that sleeper about 28 yrs ago for a family friend when they had their first baby girl. Five years ago, when the friend heard we were expecting for the first time, she dug out the sleeper and gave it to us. Each of our children has worn it to come home from the hospital.
Bryce was very close to his grandmother so it's extra special to us. Grandma passed away about 12 yrs ago but we have several things she knitted for our babies, years before my dh and I ever met. She left him a box full of little things she had handmade, each with a label in her own handwriting, for the great-grandchild she knew she would never meet.
Many thanks for all the congratulations and the compliments on Adara's name.
Her middle names are taken from two of her great-grandmothers. Hazel was dh's grandma -the knitter- and Antonina was my grandma.

What a sweetie! And I love her name.

Can I say I LOVE LOVE LOVE that minnie bracelet!! Where did you get it, I'd love to have one for Lily's birthday (the weekend we'll be at MK!!!)

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful comments everyone. I had to get a tablet to write all of my responses down because I am so scatterbrained.

Revrob- We are staying at POR 9-3 to 9-7. We are doing Chef Mickey, H&V, Princess Breakfast in Norway, and I think that is all I have scheduled for now.

Dreamer and Wisher- I did make the bag and I must admit I didn't come up with the idea for the shoes but I couldn't afford to buy them so I recreated them.:rolleyes1

Heather Sue and Stephres- I will tell you I swaped the coloring on JoJo's pants. Oooops, don't tell anyone that. I might get embarrased.:rotfl:

DisneyLaura- I don't have a pattern for the bag as I winged it the whole way. But don't tell anyone that either because if it falls apart I only have me to blame.

TeresaJoy- I found the sippy cups at target it also came in a blue combination.

T-Beri- Thank you so much for the bracelet compliment, I didn't buy it I made it too because yet again I could not afford to buy one that I had seen on the net. Oh and I have a Lillian!!! Let me know if you would like I can make one for you. I just can't promise it will look any better than the one in the picture;)

Thank you again for all of your wonderful comments. Being that those were all firsts for me it makes me feel all giddy inside:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

If I missed anyone I am so sorry it wasn't intentional my tablet got a little messy:)

Here are a few photos of Star Wars shorts I made for DS, the fabrics are two panels that are for making pillows or hangings, and I added a cuff. I'm really disappointed how they turned out, I don't like how Yoda & Darth's heads are cut off. (But don't worry! I bought 4 more panels to make more!) But he LOVES them, and that's what counts, right?

And here is a pair of pirate shorts that I made to match my DD's pirate twirl skirt:

DSC_0027.jpg

DD and I went to a discount/fabric store today and found the cutest pink fabric covered in Tiaras! And she picked out some great space themed fabric for DS (so I can make shorts for him.)

It was DD's ballet show this weekend, and for the occasion I made ballet "swishy pants" (AKA gouchos!) and I did a simple ballet shoe iron-on a t-shirt we just bought.

Now I'm getting ready to make a peasant dress for DD with some Ariel fabric I found. And I wasn't able to find any of the pre-shirred fabric here in Canada, nor could I find lobster fabric anywhere! (I found tarantulas, radishes, watermelon, cabbages, hunky fed ex guys, bikini-clad girls on Harleys, and a whole wall of Christmas fabrics. But not one Lobster. Oh, well . . .)

Off to sew buttons on DH's shirts now.

Bonne Nuit!

Stephanie

She is beautiful!!! She makes me want another one. Also I'm babysitting Jenna's three friends and they are really sweet and they are making me wish Jenna had a sibling.

When Jenna was a baby I bought a crochet pattern that I wanted her grandma to make for her. Well she kept putting me off. Well the husband of a lady that I worked with offered to make the pattern for me. I gave him the pattern and told him that I only wanted the jacket. Well about 2 weeks later he gives me a box and inside was the blanket, the jacket, the bonnet and the booties. :rotfl: They both loved Jenna and so they said it was a first birthday gift for her. :lovestruc I still have it all put up for her.

This is what I did last night, just a simple top and shorts. DH does not think the patterns match but who cares what he thinks (well, I did ask his opinion so it's my fault). And I made a matching shirt for her brother even though he is less than enthusiastic. Question for those who have made this before: would it be ok with one bigger button rather than the two small ones? I think that it is cute and I always only do one button.

How cute! I love the shirt. I think the fabric goes fine together.
Here is my Fourth of July outfit. I just found out my sister-in-laws from Dallas are coming for July 4 :yay: I just got Kayla's hair cut today. I was kindof drastic but I love it!!

Ok I finished my 1st fully home made dress for Nikki! I liked it until I put the zipper on. Oh well for my 1st zipper I guess it came out ok.

So here it is!

My son now wants a pair of shorts but I don
t have a pattern do you think i could use a pair of shorts that he wears and add a bit for a seam allowance? Or is that to much for a beginner?
I think that you did a great job for a first time doing a zipper.

I'm an auntie (again but if never gets old!). She doesn't have a name yet  but she sounds good! Daddy put her up to the phone and said "say Hi to Auntie Kristine" and she let out a good yell! :thumbsup2 That's my girl!!! Poor mom has been in labor for 22 hours and pushed for over 4 hours!!!
Congratulations!!!!!!

You did a great job on the Minnie shoes, bag and bracelet. Where did you get the "parts" to make the bracelet? Did you paint the shoes?

Those shorts look great!

I was at an arts festival this weekend and saw a little boy (1 1/2 to 2) in a Lobster button down shirt and thought of you. It was SUPER cute too!!!

I found some online:
http://www.onboardfabrics.com/product_list.php?cat=11&scat=31

http://www.jolenesoriginals.com/Fabric.html

http://favoritefabrics.homestead.com/zoom_ms_lobsterwht.html

That's funny you say you saw it clearanced b/c I figured it would be clearanced too since Wal-Mart said they were discontinuing it but at the 4 different ones I have seen it at, it is never on sale. I know that each store sets their own price, maybe the south just hasn't clearanced them yet.

Did you scan them? Or have the employee scan them? Becasue at my store they aren't marked down on the box or the sign. Hopefully they will get cheap for you too!

Now, if I would just plug mine in, turn it on and learn how to use it!!! I need some of the little convertor box thing so I can use different patterns for it. But, I guess that would be putting the cart ahead of the horse, since I have yet to actually try it out!

Oh my goodness, I was crying just looking at her beautiful little face, then I read about the outfit, and the outfits that your husbands grandma made for her some day grandchildren! Oh my, I'm just bawling like a baby now!

Our Aunt Marilyn made Tessa a little red sweater before she was born. She died unexpectedly the week before Tessa was born. Our uncle brought the sweater over for Heather after Tessa was born. It makes me teary just thinking about it. Tessa looked so adorable in that sweater too. :lovestruc

Very cute!!

I bet you can't wait for Friday!!!

I didn't sell it. I let my best friend borrow it for her DD for their Disney vaca. However, she ended up cancelling her trip when she found out she was expecting #2. Sadly, she passed away 3 months after #2 was born. So I really don't know what became of it. It's not like there is a nice way to ask her grieving husband about it (or any of my other belongings that remain in her closet!!!)

Oh my, that is so sad! I'm so sorry about your friend. Those poor babies.

I feel that things are just getting worse in my life, my headaches are worsening and I am scarred to go to see my neurosurgeon as I know that I will not get good news,...then this morning 6:00am my husband was on his way to work on his bicycle and got hit by a car, the driver took off , my husband was knocked out on the street, no one stopped to help but a homeless guy who ran and called for help, he was taken to the hospital, Thank God he is OK, nothing serious but the tendons in his right hand were badly damage and will need surgery...I feel like I am falling apart :sad1: :sad1: I am so sorry to be so off topic but needed to let this out of my chest...

Thank you for listening

I hope his hand heels up well. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Hey guys!
I finished the outfit Iwas working on. I took revrob's suggestion and did one leg of each. I had just enough dog bone fabric left for one leg.

DSCF0001.jpg

DSCF0004.jpg

I think it came out pretty cute. I skipped the appliques b/c I thought it would be too busy.

BTW these pictures were taken with my New Camera!   I had the old one since before DD was born so it was time for an upgrade!

Turned out fantastic! Very cute!

The sidewinder works great!

Much faster than doing it on the sewing machine, and I don't have to stop midstream to rethread the machine! Now if it only had a remote control, I would be all set!:rotfl:

Typical male wanting a remote control!

Also, I think we are decided on Alice in Wonderland for our MNSSHP costumes. :cool1: OF course Lily was supposed to be little alice and I was going to be big alice BUT she is insisting on being a bunny, so she may be the white rabbit, we'll see. DH wants to be the mad hatter so I'll try to talk his dad into being the march hare. I expect my MIL will be the queen of hearts. OOH, I can't wait... if I could just lose 20 pounds!!!

Congrats on the trip! Glad to hear you are feeling better!

So I have finally managed to take a picture of the JoJo shirt I made last night. It is for our Sept trip to WDW, we will be dining at Hollywood and Vine. I haven't figured out what to do for the skirt yet. I can't find the daisy kingdom stripes I wanted to use so I just have to find something else in place of it. It was my first pieced together applique and man did I make a huge mistake but I won't point it out. The Minnie outfit was from our trip to the P&P Party. Hopefully my next applique will turn out better. Poor JoJo's hands are totally screwed up but if someone actually wants to point it out to me I might just have to V8 thump them.

Oh Linnette, I will definitely be prayng for you!!! I am so sorry things are not going well right now. Sorry about your headaches but I really think you should see the Dr. I know it is scary but if the Dr. can help you that is a good thing!!

I can't believe someone hit your car and then just took off!!! That is horrible. I am just glad to hear it was not any worse. I use to work at a Sheriff's office and we dealt with a lot of hit-and-runs! I just do not get people sometimes. When is your DH going to have surgery!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you!!! You have lots of friends here on the DIS so vent away!!!

Oh Linnette. I hope your DH is doing better. Glad that someone helped.

You should go and see a doctor, letting things go typically won't make them better.

And don't apologize for being off topic!

I need help with the YCMT Criss Cross Dress!

I am making this for my daughters for the Fourth of July. I have the top part done for my oldest and I tried it on her so I can measure her for the skirt. The top is pretty tight on her, wearable but maybe slightly uncomfortable. I know I measured her correctly and was wondering what anyone might think the problem is. I was also very careful with my seam allowances too.

When I make the next one for my younger daughter (whose measurements are almost exactly the same) do you think I ought to increase all of the measurements or do you think I should just increase the length of the 4 pieces of elastic in the back by an inch so there is a little more "give"?

TIA!

:worried: :worried: Please pray for my family !!!

I will say extra prayers for you and your family.....People are so awful these days, a 77 year old man from my grandmothers community was hit the other day when he was on his daily walk, and the driver drove off, and the poor guy didn't make it.And this community is only about 350 people & everyone knows everyone!...People are just sick!!! Thank goodness someone had some compassion for your husband. Take care of yourself and  to you!
