We took a mental health day today...and headed to the mall. Someone, who shall remain nameless, told us about the sale at the Disney store, so I just had to go..:rolleyes1 I wound up with 4 pair of sunglasses, 2 pair of pajamas, 4 tee shirts, 1 pair of sneakers, and something else..can't think right now...:confused3
Then I hit up Yankee Candle for some seriously overpriced Starfruit and Orange sented candles...yummy
Then up to the food court for a huge oversided piece of pizza, and then off to the nail salon. Ireland and I both got ours done.
It was fun!!
I have been sewing my fingers off making those crayon roll up thing-ies..I only have 4 left to make. I am making one for each child in Alexis' preschool class.
I also found a great deal on flower leis...7 cents each...yup 7 cents...they were on clearance at CVS. I bought all that they had!:lmao:

Sounds like a great day! I really need to take Zoe in to get her nails done sometime. We do them at home, of course, but a little pampering at a salon would be so fun. Maybe I'll do that for her birthday. That gives me plenty of time to think about a girls' day out.

Woohoo! I finally got Hannah's dress finished last night and will ship it out today. I test fitted it on Zoe since the two girls seem to be about the same size. My photos with her "modeling" didn't come out so I just put it on my largest dress form so I could have photos for my portfolio. I sure hope Hannah and Heather (MAW Big Give #1) like it.

Gorgeous as always! I really think you could sell just the appliques, framed. :lovestruc

Yeah, I made that same mistake with Lily's minnie top.

I will definitely give it a little bit of an a-line if I did that again

I love that outfit! My DD just walked past and wants one (and wants to go to Disney to wear it ;) ).

Awe thanks. Lily loved it too. I hope she likes her new minnie dot outfit as well, though I haven't made it yet. I got a little help from Lisazoe;)

LisaZoe - Do you machine applique all the stitching on the eye, or is some by hand? Also, what pattern do you use... I just love all the space you have on the front for applique.

I know I haven't posted much here, but I am slowly getting into your group. I have sewn my whole life and every year say I am going to make customs for my kids... none get done. This year is different. I have all the fabric purchased and I have already started. My oldest (almost 8) asked if I will post of pic of her in an outfit like all the other moms did (she reads the pages with me sometimes to see all the great designs. I hear... I want that... all the time!!!

Can't wait to see your designs!

Bummer! We'll be there for Drew's birthday on the 16th so we'll miss you guys.

Here's a what do you guys think ? for you gals though................

Drew's birthday is MLK weekend. I am so bummed because from what I hear that is basically the only weekend that whole month that it is busy. Soooooo..... How bad would it be to tell her that her birthday is the next week. I mean, I really think that I could get by with it. She's not gonna know the difference just as long as when we are in the world there is a designated "Drew day." Is that terrible? I really enjoy going when it is NOT crowded!

Ya know what- if she's not gonna know the difference, I say go for it! What's important is that SHE feels there is a special day just for her!

You're a good mom Denise!

Yes, another convert! ;) Be prepared that you may soon be trying to think of how to work in wardrobe changes 2 or 3 times each day so all the sets you make actually get worn.

To answer your questions above, I sometimes hand embroider if the applique is small but I'm really trying to do more by machine. For example on the Cinderella dress, her lashes and the lines under her eyes that extend to create the "crease" are done with a straight stitch on my machine. I usually go over the same line at least twice so it shows more. It takes a little practice to be able to keep the lines of stitching overlapping but in the long run, it's worth it IMO. I don't think embroidery floss is designed to hold up to repeated washing like sewing thread so I feel the details will last longer this way.

The dress front is from an Ottobre Design magazine pattern. I think it was in the Spring 07 issue. Just about any a-line jumper pattern would work, though.

Hey everyone. We are back from our vacation to Traverse City Michigan. We had a fun time, and the girls enjoyed themselves. Tuesday morning was prettty dreary and wet ... the kid cruise we were goign to go on was cancled. But it was the cherry festival and we found other things to do around town. Here are some photos of the trip. I missed you all.

QUOTE=jham;26138261]Tom and Tiffani, so sorry to hear about what you have been going through. I lost my mom 3 years ago and my dad 9 years ago. Both died quite young. I know how it feels to lose a parent and I know how it feels to see them suffer and struggle and fight and get better and worse and better and worse. It is hard. hugs to you both.
Hi Tom, Tif and Jhammy...I would like to echo my sentiments as well. My dad suffered with cancer and died a few weeks before my DD10 was born. My mom and I went to Disney that Christmas just to avoid the whole thing at home. She then struggled with breast cancer (overcame it) and now she has dimensia (spell??). It is such a heartbreak and you are all in my prayers!

I was SOOOOOO just gonna say "Superbowl Schmuperbowl"!!! Just don't tell my DH! As long as his team's not in it we should be okay. :thumbsup2 So our best option for a meet might be Sunday February 8th? Is it easier for you local yokels to be there on a weekend?
[/QUOTE]
I couldnt care less about the superbowl myself actually but my dh may not watch the kids if it is or let me go but I can dream huh??? I have to work on Monday so I would probably fly out Sun afternoon myself...."if I went" that is :thumbsup2

I totally was, but I thought I'd better get through all the posts before I posted so I didn't miss something. It kinda freaked me out when I read it. :lmao: I think Sunday works fine for me. Now I gotta go lose some weight :rotfl: I have motivation now. It's public knowledge now people, hold me to it! No more posting pictures of your kids eating chocolate chip cookies! *ahem*
If I go, a big "if" still since I havent mentioned it to anyone but you all ;) , I would love to try to lose weight with the trip as a big carrot hanging in front of me :rotfl:

OK so back to the Dis Meet in Feb. Since Disney hasnt posted 2009, I did type in early Dec dates to see what the price would be around. Is anyone interested in sharing a POP room with me? That is if I can get my DH to agree? A room from Thur Feb 5 to Sun Feb 9th with regular dining and three-day tix (no hopper or wp) is ..... $940 divided by two adults, would only be $470 plus tax and travel costs/flight. Anyone,,,,anyone???:rotfl2: :confused3  :cheer2:

I would love to but I am not sure that my DH would roll with that very well. I may just have to work on him a bit.

Has anyone noticed the conspicuous absence of Teresa and Heather lately??? Where the heck are those girls?? There's only one reason that could excuse their absence and that's if they are working on their trip reports. W

Well............ I guess if they were out making me a custom for my trip in September then that could be excusable as well!

I imagine they could also be preparing yet ANOTHER thread....we are nearing that magic number again.
We'll have to keep a vigilant watch for them. If they're not back soon, we'll send a search party:3dglasses

I would seriously love to go. Not sure I could work it out, but I would love to share a room IF I went.

I'm not going to be able to make it, but I just wanted to add that you may be able to save some $$$$. I think Tifani said she is going and she'll have an AP. Can't someone with an AP get up to like 4 rooms at the discount if the discount becomes available??????

Just trying to save you girls some cash. I'm nothing if not cheap!

Lisa - Thanks... I think your applique designs are gorgeous. I have only done small ones to date and never thought about covering the whole front.

I am working on outfits and also finishing an applique wallhanging. I was a pattern tester for a designer and had everything fused to finish the testing... now I have to stitch and finish! Did I mention I work full time also. I just don't have enough time in a day. So I will definately be cranking out things at a much slower rate than many of you speed demons.

Traverse City is in the pinky finger of the glove (michigan). All teh places we went to were about the same area. There is one main street that everything is on (including the beach). You won't have any trouble finding any of the places. The beach was so pretty. My girls are used to a man made beach with river water (green and not so pretty) they were happy to see clear water.

You can do a search but there is horse back riding, canoes, tubeing, a petting zoo, different museums, a huge mall, boat rentals, cruises....just type in Things to do for kids at Traverse City.

I was gonna mention it. I also will have the Disney Dining Experience which will get 20% off food at most locations for up to I think 10 ppl. So, getting rooms w/ my AP and sharing them may work out less than a pkg. deal. W/ the current AP rates I got Coronado Springs for $144 a night. In Feb. I expect better rates. The 4-15th of Feb. is one of the lowest expected attendance levels of the year, so I expect pretty good rates. The only thing is you have to check closer to the date. LMK if you guys wanna look into sharing a couple of rooms.

Oh man, I'm so tempted to jump on this (assuming I'd be welcome :scared:). Is this a ladies only trip or will some be bringing kids? I ask because IF I were to go, it's more likely to happen with Zoe than without. Not that I think I could realistically do the trip since we're in Oregon and flights would add a lot to the total cost. I can dream though....
