HEY!!! Are there no instructions anywherere for the storybook twirls? I want to make Little a Cinderella one for her burthday lunch at Akershush. I bought the book and some coordinating fabric just wanting to know what you guys found to be the best way to put them together.

And, WHY can I not find a pair of jean overalls??? ANYWHERE!!!

...t.

Do you have a gap outlet near you? I see them there a lot. I know back when Drew was smaller I would sometimes buy the boys because they were easier to find.

Let me know what size you need and the next time I am at our outlet I'll look for you. I'll probably be up there in the next couple of weeks.

They have a 3T but not a 4T, are these for Little?

i was just wondering, how many of you were sewers before you saw this thread and how many of you started after being amazed by everything on here. i thought i would never sew after a 7th grade sewing teacher said some very mean things to me after i couldnt thread a bobbin. but i have now done 4 outfits and am so grateful to you guys for inspiring me to try and succeed at something i never thought i could.

I made Dallas' crib set and everything in his room about 8 years ago, then I fiddled with doll clothes. About 2 years before this thread I saw the overalls on ebay and said I could do that so did. But I never thought to do an outfit for each day, I only ever did 1 per trip. How silly was I!

Ft Wilderness is wonderful. It will spoil and or ruin all other campgrounds for you. There is so much to do and see, and it's so stinkin relaxing!!! However I think tenting in July would be pure torture. While I can stand heat during the day, at night I could not stand the sweltering heat and humidity. Plus those afternoon thunderstorms are pretty tough, and you'd have to have a fabulous tent. I don't know if you 've thought about renting an rv? You could rent an rv right outside the campground, and stay in the rv at Ft. Wilderness. Although I'm not sure how expensive that would be. Anyway, the biking trails, the wildlife ( armadillos, peacocks, chipmunks etc), the sing a longs, fireworks and electric parade from the beach make it so much fun. Rent a golfcart and epxlore the whole campground. The pools theming is not the best, but still relaxing and cool. There is a game room, and a petting spot, horse rides, pony rides....well we loved camping there, can you tell:)

Thanks! I am a bit concerned about the heat, but think I could handle it, not my ideal camping time there though. We never end up doing it when we say we will because the rooms are just always so cheap at those times.

I did NOT think of the rain though and will have to talk to DH about that. I thought about the RV thing but the price started skyrocketing!

I just started sewing the end of last July early August. Here is my very first top. And 2 I've done recently. (Kinda funny they are the same style?

Funny - I'm working on a set now using the same fabrics that my first top was made with - same style as the last 2 too. Maybe I'll do it as an anniversary thing and do it yearly. ;) We've also progressed to the Big Boutique Bows!!

Amazing the difference a year makes! Funny enough though the first outfit is simply darling too. I think DD has grown so much in just a year along with your DS.

Check The children's place. I tend to find they have overalls when most other places don't. I have a huge stock pile in closet too, what size did you need.

Since you all are so smart and fun and don't mind off topics a bit, what is tent camping like at Ft Wilderness? We are thinking about doing it the end of July. We have never stayed there before but enjoy going over to do fun things. I would like this trip to be more about the resort then the parks with only 1 or 2 days of actual parks, the water parks a couple of days and just hanging out.

Thanks!

Here is LilliAnna and Maggie in their Hannah Montana stripwork skirt. I used the YCMT pattern without the underskirt and then I added the band at the bottom. The T-shirt came from Target. I love the way the skirt turned out. It was really easy to make.
Love it! I have the HM fabric and have been looking for a coordinating fabric for a skirt. Where did you find the stripes?

Ditto this. We love camping with the kids, but never July in Florida! I love being able to escape the heat when I want without swimming.

Your first outfit was great but the Snow White & Mickey ones are awesome! Your DD has grown up a lot too.

Here are some better pictures of the detail on the guitar shirt! I don't think I ever posted these after my super cool and talented nephew did them for me! This may not even be the top that was mentioned, but just in case anyone was interested in seeing it close up. This is maybe one of Drew's favorite things I have ever made her!

When I did mine I just figured out what size I wanted the skirt to be-I used a solid piece 36" and wanted the skirt 2 times that. My panels were about 7" so I used 2" (finished) strips between the 8 panels to get a piece 72". I did the ruffle a bit more than 2 times. I do wish that I had attached the panels to a piece the same size (the 72") before I gathered onto the waistband piece so that you could see the panels better.

I love the fabrics in your HSM skirt!!! The funny thing is that I saw that and thought, "she should make a guitar tank to match that!" Riley just walked up as I was looking at it and she loved it too!

If you need some better pics of the detail in the guitar just let me know. My nephew, who is an awesome photographer, took some pictures for my listing and they show the detail much better than the cruddy ones I posted.

I'm gonna dig around and see if I can find those right now!

Thanks. That would help alot. I love your design. It was one of the customs that inspired me to start sewing. Hope your girls are well. Love your American girl post.

I would love to do this! But I can't take the heat in July or August. It really gets the asthma going. My sister just got a RV and I keep trying to talk her into it. But she's they are too new to go that far. BIL says they'd need a new truck first! :rotfl:

I finished the Lion King outfit, I got possessed by something and ended up making matching socks, a bracelet, a necklace, and even made Vegas a matching dress. It took forever to get the pictures off the card so DH managed to get them off. (So much for the mac being easier than the pc)

Here is Mylee Mae in her Minnie Twirl. I also made one to match for her big sisters. I am thinking about adding a ruffle of with the red and white large dot.

I made the girls matching outfits for our dinner at Ohana.

I also made the YCMT stripwork skirt for LilliAnna to wear to DHS. SHe loves High School Musical. I am thinking about CASEing the Guitar T-shirt from the boards. It was one of the first outfits that I copies and put in my inspiration file.

I am so excited that I just found a new fabric store downtown. I love the vintage style of fabric but I need some suggestions on what to do with my latest stash. Any ideas?

Your girls look GREAT!! Thanks for sharing. Your new fabrics look good. Wish we'd have more to look at around here.

My mother had me sewing when I was 8 years old. I liked it until I got older. When ever I wanted to have something new, I'd hear, make it yourself. I sewed off and on for many years. But not much of a fan unless I was really motivated. Made everyones halloween costumes for years. Then a couple of years ago, Kirsta started to ask to wear Princess costumes in the Park. I thought it too hot to wear the traditional satins. So I came up with this:

ry%3D320
ry%3D320

Then I discovered this list. It has given me inspiration to keep going. Now that Kirsta is starting to outgrow Disney outfits (my love), I've a little neice to sew for and our Big Give.

just finished this for DS

Did you applique this? Great idea. I find it hard to come up with something for a boy.

It's hard to believe, but we are starting to get into the Back to School selling. Denim is usually a fall item. So you should start to see it. Or even check at the Good will stores children resales. I usually get some at the resales.

Be kind. This is my first multiquote and I tried to get everything incoluded but I know I missed some. Anyway, all of the outfits are adorable. Thanks for the all compliments on my outfits and little ones. I love this site. It is so addictive.

I`am seeing 50's style sundress for the last fabric combo.
I love that idea. Thanks.

More adorable stuff!!! You're good!

Thanks, I love your trip report.

Oh she looks so cute!!! Do you have more pictures of it!!! It looks so adorable.[/QUOTE]

Thanks, I will try to get another one this evening. It is what I call a LAZY TWIRL skirt. It was my first twirl skirt and I could not envision using so many squares so I cut it way down. DH said that I was just to lazy to cut them all out. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OMG I love it!!!!!!!! I really want to try to make that Mickey or Minnie applique. I looked for it in the book marks and I couldn't find it:confused3 Can some one be so kind and post the actual link?

Love all of the skirts! Great fabric!

k
Cute I love those!

I'll look for the micky head applique. It came from an old post. If noone posts it, I'll try to scan it in.

SEND IT TO ME!!! You have a lilliAnna, I have a Liliana. There are a few Lily's around here. I feel like gave her a common name. The Ohana dresses are cute and I LOVE the new fabrics. They would look cute as a pinafore style top, maybe the round neck one.

It is becoming a popular name. My granny's name was Lillie and my grandmother's name was Anna. I love your designs. Hope everything is going better at home.

And here is some recent work...

Love it! I have the HM fabric and have been looking for a coordinating fabric for a skirt. Where did you find the stripes?

I found it a Hancocks with the St. Jude's fabric. It is a little costly but I used my 40% coupon and it wasn't so bad. I like the way it looks with the red and white dot.

Happy Independence Day!

My kids are wishing you guys a happy Fourth of July! - (they're being firecrackers. . . )

Everyone have a great day and stay safe!

I haven't seen them recently, but in the past I've bought them at Old Navy and WalMart. I think they're a fall item, so they'll probably be out pretty soon. Do you need them pretty quick? What size do you need? I may have a pair in my stash.

I'm hoping someone out there can help. I'm looking for a pattern or idea for a bib/apron that will protect the front part of a flower girl dress during the reception dinner. DD is 7, so it can't look like a traditional 'bib'. I would like something quick, easy and cute that would slip over the front of her to protect the ivory dress from the dreaded pasta sauce!:) Thanks!

I finally finished something for The Big Give 2.

This is Carla C's bowling shirt pattern. I'm really thrilled with how well this pattern came out. I love that it is lined. I also have cut out a pair of matching shorts out of the Nemo fabric. Do you think that the cargo pockets should be blue or orange?

Here is the back of the shirt.

I will get my 4yo DS Jack to model in the morning when he is awake.

I am also going to make a bowling shirt for Hannah out of these fabrics. I love having the chance to sew with pink! I only have boys to sew for so this is fun.

Great job!!!!! How about a pocket in blue on one leg and an orange one on the other leg? Hanna's shirt will look great too!

I like the idea of one pocket one color and another pocket another color. Kinda mix it up a little.

This turned out really cute - I'm sure he'll love it! I can't wait to see Hannah's when it's done too!

I made a bowling shirt today too. For my tomboy DD(5). She loves lizards so I thought this would be perfect for AK. I was hoping the placket makes it a bit feminine and the buttons almost look like flowers. I think I have enough of the lizard fabric to make one for my DS(7). I just need to find a good masculine contrast fabric for him.

This may be a silly question, but where do ya'll get the applique's from? Are they just cut outs of fabric, are they painted on?? I am a newbie to sewing but would love to make my DD some of these cute outfits for our next trip!
