Very nice! My db's would love the marine fabric. Too bad they aren't always nice to me! When is the parade? We should drive up and see it! Ours in Harrisburg is sooo lame!

Oh! I should have checked the post last night!:headache: The parade is in Faith today at 10:00am -- you better be loading up now 'cause it's gonna be packed. If you get this in time to come...you take the Jake Alexander Exit off I-85 north t/r got thru I think one stop light and then at the next one turn right onto Faith Road - it goes to the town...tiny town...big 4th deal...they are also having a festival with rides and such today and tomorrow.

Here's the link for info. http://www.faith4th.com/home.aspx

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bday:

i was just wondering, how many of you were sewers before you saw this thread and how many of you started after being amazed by everything on here. i thought i would never sew after a 7th grade sewing teacher said some very mean things to me after i couldnt thread a bobbin. but i have now done 4 outfits and am so grateful to you guys for inspiring me to try and succeed at something i never thought i could.

I have been sewing since I was in the 10th grade (Home Ec.). I have done things off/on since then but really kicked it up a notch after I had my DD (3.5 years ago) and now I don't even buy my kids clothes anymore, just t-shirts used for appliqueing.

Since you all are so smart and fun and don't mind off topics a bit, what is tent camping like at Ft Wilderness? We are thinking about doing it the end of July. We have never stayed there before but enjoy going over to do fun things. I would like this trip to be more about the resort then the parks with only 1 or 2 days of actual parks, the water parks a couple of days and just hanging out.

Thanks!

Ft Wilderness is wonderful. It will spoil and or ruin all other campgrounds for you. There is so much to do and see, and it's so stinkin relaxing!!! However I think tenting in July would be pure torture. While I can stand heat during the day, at night I could not stand the sweltering heat and humidity. Plus those afternoon thunderstorms are pretty tough, and you'd have to have a fabulous tent. I don't know if you 've thought about renting an rv? You could rent an rv right outside the campground, and stay in the rv at Ft. Wilderness. Although I'm not sure how expensive that would be. Anyway, the biking trails, the wildlife ( armadillos, peacocks, chipmunks etc), the sing a longs, fireworks and electric parade from the beach make it so much fun. Rent a golfcart and epxlore the whole campground. The pools theming is not the best, but still relaxing and cool. There is a game room, and a petting spot, horse rides, pony rides....well we loved camping there, can you tell:)

SNICKERS® SALAD

5-6 apples, cored and cubed
1 lg. container Cool Whip
3-4 SNICKERS® candy bars, cut into sm. pieces

Mix all of the above ingredients and refrigerate. Makes a real yummy salad.

Linnette

YOU MUST POST RECIPE OF SNICKERS SALAD! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

ATTENTION PLEASE! I HAVE ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE!

OK ladies (and gentlemen) here's is the Infamous Snicker SaladI got this recipe from a friend on another website-

6-8 green apples- chopped with skins left on
2 (or 3) jumbo snickers bars chopped into small bites
chopped pecans to your taste
1 lg cool whip - thawed
1 sm package of vanilla instant pudding
1 can sweetened condensed milk

Mix coolwhip, instant pudding powder and sweetened condensed milk- set aside.
Chop apples, put into cool whip mixture, add chopped snickers bars and pecans- coat apples and refrigerate until ready to eat. YUMMO!!!Especially when you get a piece of the snickers in with the apple and the pecan! You can use low cal or sf/ff versions of the cool whip, condensed milk and pudding to cut calories down and it will not affect the taste at all.

Now THIS is my kind of salad :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I just want to say Happy 4th of July everyone and I have loved all the customs posted yesterday and today...I am crazy busy right now but I did "window shop"....great job gals!!!

I added some 4th of July Fireworks pics (taken July 3rd!)

Ok who else is crying! Sweet tears but still:sad: I pray with all my heart this turns out the very best for you and those little ones. Please keep us posted on everything!

I will thank you. I want the best for D even if that is not us. Though I would love to keep him forever he is just to stinking cute! :goodvibes

I am mad at all of you. I just found this thread and read the ENTIRE thing today. I am going to get fired. And it's all your fault! :)

There should be a warning in the first part of this thread about how it WILL suck you in lol. Welcome to the group glad you came! :goodvibes

You're still WONDERFUL!!!! Oh, I will most definitely be praying for you on the baby situation!!!!.
Thank you I will talk all the prayers I can get.

Oh, I almost forgot to post this, HeatherN got 2 of her MAW BIG GIVE outfits today! She posted pictures in her PTR!!!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1852434&goto=newpost

Oh I went and looked :goodvibes I love that you guys are doing this for a big give! Hopefully I will REALLY learn to sew and can help soon lol.

  Congratulations on your new little prince! How wonderful that you will take him in and love him for however long he needs to be cared for.

You are a very special family! Does this mean you lost your sewing room??;) I will say a prayer that you have a new addition to your family one way or the other! :cloud9:

Thank you. I think I should have called him a pirate because he makes the cutest little grunting pirate noises! pirate: Shelby (DD 14) calls him her little pirate lol. Poor little guy I think he is doing it though because he is uncomfy because he came with a horrible diaper rash from the trip down. :(

I did not lose my sewing room. If D stays though and we do get another child I will. DH and I have already talked about it and I think I can live with it lol.

Here are some of my recent projects.

The Cinderella Petti-as you can tell Morgan likes it LOL.

And a plaid spinny:
Cute Cute! You can tell that she really likes the Cinderella Petti!

Official "We Love CarlaC" Post:

Hey all, me again! Look what I made this morning!

She got water on the front of the shirt right before I took pictures.

th_DSC09913_320x480.jpg

It only took me a total of 40 minutes to make it!! That includes cutting out the pieces! I used 2 of my old t-shirts and cut the pattern out of them. I used CarlaC's "All the Rage Raglans" ebook. This is the first time I've ever worked with knits. It wasn't hard at all because the ebook gives some good tips. Plus, this was a heavier knit and it didn't curl up like some lighter weight ones probably would.

I thought we'd take pictures in the bathroom, to change things up a bit! :rotfl:

This one is just for Luke. Tessa thought he'd think she looked cool.

th_DSC09918_360x480.jpg
So CUTE! I love Tessa's hair too lol. I will have to show DD the T. You are trying to make me go buy another pattern today aren't you. :rotfl:

Welcome to the little prince. Sometimes we need a good slap to know what we are to do. I hope things go well. Did you lose your sewing room?

We do don't we! Thank you and no I just do not see DH finishing it soon now lol. When he gets home he is always wanting to see what D is doing instead of doing my honey do list. Can't imagine why. :rotfl:

We had to do this last trip. I was having a flare up of my RSDS (nerve pain) and needed to rent an ECV. So my Mom came to help me with Kirsta. At the resort, they tried to change the ADR to 3, and was told no. No room or whatever. So we showed up at the counter, and I just asked if they could seat 3 instead of 2. It was never a problem. Except for the BBQ, but Mom stayed in the room and rested.

I agree with this. They gave us such snot about calling and moving up our ressies for our Dec trip when we decided to remain foster parents. My buddy who is a dating a chef at Disney talked to him and he said no not to bother just show up with one more. Course we will have an infant and I just think it is silly to think he will need a seat but I understand fire laws etc. Anyway I think it will be fine to just show up the worst thing that is going to happen is your going to have to wait a bit longer probably.

The pants for the BIG GIVE are done except for the ruffle at the bottom. I am thinking yellow because the top is going to be stripes of red, white and yellow. Here they are, I used castles toothpick paint technique for the face details and it worked great (I was suprised that it was really easy!!):rotfl2:
ry%3D320

and just for fun, I hosted my moms club 4th of july craft today and the kids made fireworks hats, so here is a pic of that.
ry%3D320
Oh MY MY MY those are AMAZING! I cannot wait to see her in the whole outfit! Just beautiful! I adore the theme too!

I hope you can enjoy him while you have him and will pray about your situation. You are such an inspiration and I am so glad you decided to not get out of fostering (atleast for now). What you do is so wonderful. I hope one day that we can do the same, sadly enough, I feel selfish right now and want to wait until Dallas is a bit older to start something like that.
I finished the Lion King outfit, I got possessed by something and ended up making matching socks, a bracelet, a necklace, and even made Vegas a matching dress. It took forever to get the pictures off the card so DH managed to get them off. (So much for the mac being easier than the pc)

DSCN2870-1.jpg

The whole ensemble.

th_DSCN2887-1.jpg

An outfit for Vegas.

.
There is no need to think you are being selfish on that! We waited until our children were 12 and 14. We had entertained the thought before but never really dove into till they required much less focus than they once did lol. :rotfl:

Precious precious outfit! I LOVE the whole thing ... even the socks lol.

Here is LilliAnna and Maggie in their Hannah Montana stripwork skirt. I used the YCMT pattern without the underskirt and then I added the band at the bottom. The T-shirt came from Target. I love the way the skirt turned out. It was really easy to make.
Cute I love those!

Quick question- The Pooh storybook material, I'm dying to get ahold of some of it, can it still be bought in the stores? I found some on :wizard:, but if I can find it at Walmart or somewhere local, I'd rather do that. TIA!

Renae

th_pooh.jpg
I bought it recently here (within the last month). I can check around and see if I can find it if you want.

Here is Mylee Mae in her Minnie Twirl. I also made one to match for her big sisters. I am thinking about adding a ruffle of with the red and white large dot.

th_DSC_0096.jpg
So SO sweet!

I made the girls matching outfits for our dinner at Ohana.

th_DSC_0090.jpg

I also made the YCMT stripwork skirt for LilliAnna to wear to DHS. SHe loves High School Musical. I am thinking about CASEing the Guitar T-shirt from the boards. It was one of the first outfits that I copies and put in my inspiration file.

th_DSC_0103.jpg

th_DSC_0105.jpg

I am so excited that I just found a new fabric store downtown. I love the vintage style of fabric but I need some suggestions on what to do with my latest stash. Any ideas?

th_DSC_0110.jpg

th_DSC_0112.jpg

I love your Ohana outfits really like the colors!

The guitar twirl skrit are to cute and I know just the shirt you are talking about and I think it would be precious with it! That guitar fabric is great!

No help on what to do but I love both fabrics! The zoo fabric reminds me of a custom I had made not to long ago and the fabric was one of the big reasons I bought it. There are so manythings you could do with it!

I am so excited for you guys. I sent you another PM!!!
Thanks. :goodvibes

HAPPY 4TH TO ALL OF YOU! HAVE A GREAT LONG WEEKEND!

It's DS 6th b-day today, :bday: we celebrated on Tuesday before DH left. So today, we're celebrating by getting out the wading pool, and I'm going to sew, sew, sew!

Have a lovely holdiay wherever you are :goodvibes

Hope you have a great 4th too! Hope DS's bday is great! My daughters best friend is a 4th of july baby too! Such a cool bday to have! :goodvibes

i was just wondering, how many of you were sewers before you saw this thread and how many of you started after being amazed by everything on here. i thought i would never sew after a 7th grade sewing teacher said some very mean things to me after i couldnt thread a bobbin. but i have now done 4 outfits and am so grateful to you guys for inspiring me to try and succeed at something i never thought i could.

I still am not technically a sewer but I am learning. I think there are a lot of people that started back to sewing because of this thread. :goodvibes

I am mad at all of you. I just found this thread and read the ENTIRE thing today. I am going to get fired. And it's all your fault!

Worse than that, I now have a burning desire to go to Joann's and buy tons of stuff I don't need.

I haven't sewed in...how old is my son? 2 years, except for a few small things. This thread has really inspired me to get back to it.

Thank you everyone for sharing your creations!!!

I'm going to put a bunch of stuff on photobucket so I can share mine. That is, if it's okay to share stuff I made a while ago...
Welcome! Can't wait to see your stuff.

Sorry I've been missing in action!!! Was in the hospital with pain medication(morphine) to control pain, hopefully by tomorrow I will be back to my sewing

Linnette
So sorry to hear this. Do you have plans for surgery?

That looks great! I've been looking at that pattern.

Thank you!! My husband built our house. He is amazing! I grew up in a little 900 square foot house with 1 bathroom and 5 people. The house didn't seem very small to me, but that 1 bathroom was a PROBLEM!
Wow!

this is depressing, sadly I have no 4th plans with DH being overseas and all. My family is about 1hr away and we will go see them saturday but we are stayin home and maybe going to a neighbors. Sorry to rain on everyone's parade but I am really missing DH after 8.5 months and wish I were planning a family outing for us. I love the snicker salad idea---that will be used for DHs homecoming party as he is a chocoholic!
 Thank you, you DH and your family for your DH's service!

HOT!!!!!!!!! I would love to camp at Ft. Wilderness someday but camping in a tent in July would not be my idea of a good time. How about a cabin at Ft Wilderness so you'd have AC?

The show is on Sunday. Delaney's pretty excited. She's really looking forward to going. I have no idea what we're doing tomorrow but we're prepared for a picnic, I just have to make the potato salad in the morning.
What a great outfit! You did an incredible job on the hand painting!

I forgot! I made Dallas Wall E pants/shorts this morning! I really want to call them carpi's, but that would be girly! I LOVE the way they turned out, DH hates them! I don't care! I haven't done the shirt yet because I gotta find some spray adhesive stuff! I had another design that didn't need it but just not feeling the greatness of it so it is sitting on the ironing board.
I'm sure they look great!

I have seen a Pooh storybook kit (not on a bolt) at JoAnns but I don't know which one.

More cute outfits! I love that owl fabric with brown polka dots. I think it would make a great bowling shirt or round neck top. I would probably make an A-line top out of the zoo fabric as that seems to be the one pattern that always comes out good for me.

I took sewing in jr & sr high and my Mom and 3 sisters are all great sewers (1 made my wedding gown). I used to sew for nieces/nephews/friends about 15 years ago and even made a Christening gown. My children 9, 7, and 5 have never remembered seeing my sewing machine until the disboutique inspired me to take up sewing again.

I just started sewing the end of last July early August. Here is my very first top. And 2 I've done recently. (Kinda funny they are the same style?

Funny - I'm working on a set now using the same fabrics that my first top was made with - same style as the last 2 too. Maybe I'll do it as an anniversary thing and do it yearly. ;) We've also progressed to the Big Boutique Bows!!

I love the fabrics in your HSM skirt!!! The funny thing is that I saw that and thought, "she should make a guitar tank to match that!" Riley just walked up as I was looking at it and she loved it too!

If you need some better pics of the detail in the guitar just let me know. My nephew, who is an awesome photographer, took some pictures for my listing and they show the detail much better than the cruddy ones I posted.

I'm gonna dig around and see if I can find those right now!

SEND IT TO ME!!! You have a lilliAnna, I have a Liliana. There are a few Lily's around here. I feel like gave her a common name. The Ohana dresses are cute and I LOVE the new fabrics. They would look cute as a pinafore style top, maybe the round neck one.

i was just wondering, how many of you were sewers before you saw this thread and how many of you started after being amazed by everything on here. i thought i would never sew after a 7th grade sewing teacher said some very mean things to me after i couldnt thread a bobbin. but i have now done 4 outfits and am so grateful to you guys for inspiring me to try and succeed at something i never thought i could.

I have been "sewing " since I was young. But not actually "sewing" I made a short set for a 4H competition when I was 13 and I've made pillows or reconstructed some of my clothing in HS. As far as real, sit down w/ a pattern sewing I just started making a few things before I found this board. I hadn't even thought of sewing clothes until I came here (over a year ago I think). THIS is my first dress.

I promise to get pics of the 4th twirl top today. I may have another outfit to post as well.

WHAT...NOONE wanted the recipe for Applebee's Red Apple Sangria??? I'm the only lush areound here or what???

...t.

t-berri ~ I'd love love love that recipe!!!! I had just gotten back from my sister's weekend at the lake (too much of a good thing you know!;) )when you first posted it, so it didn't sound so great, but now it sounds yummy!

Here are some better pictures of the detail on the guitar shirt! I don't think I ever posted these after my super cool and talented nephew did them for me! This may not even be the top that was mentioned, but just in case anyone was interested in seeing it close up. This is maybe one of Drew's favorite things I have ever made her!

Hope you have a great 4th too! Hope DS's bday is great! My daughters best friend is a 4th of july baby too! Such a cool bday to have! :goodvibes

Actually I'm in Canada and our holiday is July 1st. I was kinda hoping for a Canada Day baby! But we're going to bring him to Cape Cod next year for his b-day (we have relatives that live in Boston & Cape Cod). Imagine fireworks on your b-day!

Applebee's Red Apple Sangria

This recipe is for 1 serving but it's in ounces so it shouldn't be hard to multiply. ALSO, I'd like to add that it says 1 orange wedge, one lime wedge, 1 marachino cherry an 2 apple balls.... At my applebees they put like 10 cherrys in it and I intend to FILL my batch w/ fruit. Especially the apples OH, and the recipe calls for red apples (it IS red apple sangria) but my applebee's uses granny smith apples. I also intend to use BOTH red and green apples in my batch.

3 oz. Sutterhome Cabernet Sauvignon
1 oz. Shakka red apple vodka (may be substituted w/ Apple Pucker)
1 oz. pineapple juice
1 oz. cranberry juice
1/2 oz. grenadine
SPLASH of carbonated lime beverage (they use Sierra Mist)
1 Orange wedge
1 Lime Wedge
1 Marachino Cherry
2 pieces of Apple (they scoop it out w/ the small end of a melon baller and yes you will have peel on one side.)

This is HEAVEN in a punch bowl.

HEY!!! Are there no instructions anywherere for the storybook twirls? I want to make Little a Cinderella one for her burthday lunch at Akershush. I bought the book and some coordinating fabric just wanting to know what you guys found to be the best way to put them together.

And, WHY can I not find a pair of jean overalls??? ANYWHERE!!!
