I don't know anything about these shirts and didn't understand the choices but I didn't want you to feel ignored. I am sure Heather could probably give excellent advice but she is probably resting from her worrisome night. I know someone will come along who knows more than me soon!

Ok, I have been giving out so many hugs because I guess I need one. My SIL came down from Tallahassee to job hunt and look at condos/apartments. Well, she got a job so she is moving down here in July! :cool1: But she had to go back to Tallahassee so she took the kids up to my parents where they will stay for 10 days. :worried: I miss them already. I will have to try to stay very busy; I think I have a few projects I can tackle, lol.
  Hope you can get lots done in the next 10 days. I'm sure your kids with have a blast with their grandparents!

Thanks for thinking of me! I went back and looked at the photos Heather & Crystal posted and I cut out new plackets and colar out of the lining fabric. I don't know if I'll love it but I knew that the large design on the fabric wasn't the best choice for this pattern. But DS insisted that was what he wanted. He's been so patient while I've made outfits for his sisters that I figured I had to at least try to make what he picked. I guess if he likes it that is all that really matters. I'll be the one picking fabrics for the next one!;)

Ha ha! I already found it!

lovesdumbo: you're right, he will love it because he picked it out and you made it. That's all the matters!

It is really neat, isn't it! We use to have a lady that did that on here, way back when, Travelingal (Robin) but she hasn't been around in a long time. I'm glad we have someone else doing it now!!!! :yay:

hmmm... my ears have been burning lately - this must be why. :lmao:

Hi -- I got pretty burned out sewing all those outfits for our entire group for our Sept/Oct trip. I've only made one dress since then! (A formal for Eastern Star) It's also really hard for me to sew because the machine is in the basement and DS can't be down there. (DH has his office there and has lots of equipment DS could get hurt on - or damage if he messed with it)

The easiest way to do test runs on patterns using Photoshop (or whatever design program you have) is to get a line drawing of the pattern. For example I found the 4 block dress someone was looking at on the Simplicity site. (Design Viewer - Front and Back View) I zoomed in (mouse feature I have) and did a print screen. You could also resize it in the photo editing program. I pasted the image in Photoshop and deleted the white areas INSIDE the design. Then one can just start layering images of fabric behind the original outline.

This image was saved as a GIF file, so if the person who was looking at this pattern wanted to save it to play with, it will already have the inside part removed. (just remember to save it to your own computer as a gif!)
dress.gif

You can also edit an outfit someone is wearing, but that is a lot harder. I started Krista on her way (I did the bodice) with the pirate top and she took it from there. It's really pretty easy once you start playing with it.

I've got lots of both fabrics. What would you do?

I would use the lining fabric. Very cute shirt!

I work on this for my friend:

Made of scraps of fabrics that I had:

my husband thinks the top is too short (is for a 6.5 yrs)

th_2007_06160008.jpg

what you guys think? is the top too short?

Very sweet outfit - I love the pale yellow. Yes, for my taste the top is too short. I like others' idea to do a band of the yellow like at the bottom of the skirt.

DD informed me last week after seeing some of the PPP outfits that have been posted that she wanted to be a "pirate princess" for haloween. I found this skull fabric and thought it was too perfect so i went ahead and made this:

th_DSC00489.jpg

It is the sisney store petti. What do you guys think? does it need something else??

SO cute! Man, I am *jonesin* to get my pettis! Of course my DD will probably refuse to wear them...

A Hawaiian-inspired bowling shirt--perfect for 'Ohana maybe? ;) I think at the very least, we need to go to the Poly and take pictures with this. I have to make DD a matching a-line now...
309542691_pJGQE-L-0.jpg

Awesome! That fabric looks amazing with the shirt style! :thumbsup2

Shamless begging? :rolleyes1

Hmm, if that works I can resort to that! I made one for me and for my little cousin years ago, it was the first thing I made (besides crib stuff) and I LOVED the way it turned out! I can't wait to get this one to make Dallas a few shirts!

From the Gwinnett Center, you can keep going down Satellite Blvd (and avoid 85) towards Gwinnett Place Mall. Take a right on Pleasant Hill (or as we call it, UNpleasant Hill), then the shopping center with JoAnn's will be on your left. I think it is 2 lights down. You can see an On the Border and a Rooms To Go in the parking lot (also Barnes & Noble, TRU, Old Navy, etc., etc.), and JoJo's is toward the back. The Greek restaurant in that center is yummy! There's also a La Madeleine in there too. It is one of the big JoAnn Etc. stores. Their customer service is lacking, but they have lots of stuff.

There used to be a Hancock's right near there, but it closed down.

If you want to do other shopping, you can turn the other direction out of the Gwinnett Center and go up to Sugarloaf, take a Right, and Discover Mills will be on your Right. It's a huge outlet-type mall. Discover Mills directory

If you're super bored, you can keep going down, down, down Sugarloaf into Lawrenceville and go to Stitch N Quilt. The ladies are very nice. It's a smallish quilting store though.

If you get all the way to Stitch N Quilt, you are near a nice, new shopping center called I'd love to know what you think of Sesame Place. I want to take Megan there and Hershey park in a couple of years, but I keep reading mixed reviews of Sesame Place. And since it would be a far distance for us (from TX) I want to make sure it's worth the travel before we commit.

I always wanted to take Dallas to Sesame Place but also go so many mixed horrible and then good reviews. We never did it, as we have ended up doing free dining the past 3 years instead. I think Sea World looks awesome now with the characters, the San Diego one looked as if it has rides and all already! We didn't have a day to hit it though.

Just wanted to say hi and show ya'll I have not dropped off the face of the earth again. It is 100 degreestoday and Our Ac broke! So, we tried to keep cool all day and someone came and worked on it all day and we think it is working, but it takes a while to cool your house down when it is 100 degrees outside!

I love everyone's creations! The minnie outfit is so cute, and those new shirts are great! They will be all the buzz when the patterns go for sale! I know I saw more great things, but it is too hot upstairs in the puter room so I am heading downstairs!

see everyone again soon!

Why is this always the way it is! Ours broke last July when it was 102! It also broke again last week but only about 85 that day, much more tolerable! We just need a whole new unit! YUCK!

Here's the shirt I'm working on. If I put the buttonholes one the right side for a boys shirt it will look like this and I don't like it:

If I put them on the left side it would look like this:

I'm thinking of using the lining fabric instead. I knew when DS picked out this fabric that it would be tricky.....

I've got lots of both fabrics. What would you do?
Option 1: Don't worry about it make it as is with buttons holes on right (don't say that cause I won't do it :rotfl: ).

Option 2: Cut out a new right side placket.

Option 3: Put button holes on the left.

Option 4: Use lining for placket.

I'm not so worried about the collar as it is too small to really matter (I think???) but I do have enough lining fabric to do the collar with it too.

I am very happy with the way I cut out the sleeves so I"m not worried about those.

Prints like this are the worst! I think I like it with the fabric you got for the lining, especially if you did the collar in it too! But any way I am sure it will look super cute!

I am just sick today- my brothers friends went out in a paddle boat on friday night and the boat tipped over and one of the friends is now missing. They think he probably drowned. But have not been able to find him. The friend didn't tell anyone til the next day- thought he had swam to the other side as they had been talking in the water after the boat flipped. The boys are all 18 and My heart is just broken for all of them!! Of course they were not wearing life jackets, it was not their boat and they may been drinking. So So So sad!!! Please keep them in your prayers.
Sorry to bring you all down. But I wanted to get all your positive thoughts and prayers out there for him and his family and friends. Thank You!!

I'll be praying!

LOVE THOSE SHIRTS!!!!!:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

I would love to try this for my boys but :

Heather and Crystal : IN A SCALE OF 1 - 10 how hard is to do????
I find patterns hard to understand:furious: is this an easy one????

I am not a good pattern follower either. I have to read it about 20x before I can figure out what it wants me to do and half the time if I can't I just make something up. Always works! ;) I made this style shirt 1st thing after a crib set though and I survived through 2 of them and then did about 5 for build a bears.

I finished Madi's dress!
th_Madsdress005.jpg
Thta is so pretty!!! Your daughter is just gorgeous!!!

I have that material just waiting for me to make something out of it!

This is Great!!! I LOVE:lovestruc to sew for my 3 girls and nieces!!!!!! Are we supposed to showcase only disney creations or can we show anything we create?

Please show us anything you make!!!
Everything is so cute as usual! I have tried to multiquote, but I seem to mess it up each time??

We have been gone for a few days and I don't think I will ever catch up! :rotfl2:

I wanted to post a couple of pictures of this past week. My son-in-law got back from being deployed for the last 4 months! We were there when the ship came in and went to Disneyland the next day! Where else would we go!!

Sue
What a beautiful family Sue!!! I love your DGD'd outfit!!!

Aren't you and Jord cute!!!

Goodness, I have a lot to catch up on!! That's what happens when your computer doesn't cooperate all day! :badpc:

Tomorrow is a big day at our house....:worried:
Alexis is beginning pre K...it's a 10 hour day, and I'm worried about her. I feel like it's much too long for that age, but that's what I get for putting her in the summer program. Also Ireland is going to summer camp for the first time. It's a day camp, and it's also for 10 hours a day. She will be going to Universal, some local springs, Wet N Wild, bowling, movies, ice skating...etc...she will have a blast...but poor Lexie...:( I made her a new outfit for the occasion, but I want to cry every time I look at it...:( The house will be VERY quiet tomorrow...:worried:

Whew, that is a Looooong day for the girls - and you too!! Is that how school is down there in Florida?

Ok, I have been giving out so many hugs because I guess I need one. My SIL came down from Tallahassee to job hunt and look at condos/apartments. Well, she got a job so she is moving down here in July! :cool1: But she had to go back to Tallahassee so she took the kids up to my parents where they will stay for 10 days. :worried: I miss them already. I will have to try to stay very busy; I think I have a few projects I can tackle, lol.

CarlaC let me be a tester for her new pattern!! I was thrilled to be able to have a "sneak peek"!! She said it should be available for sale within the next week or so. Here's what I made for Sawyer. I'll try and get pictures of him modeling it within the next few days. I'm also making a simply sweet halter dress for Tessa out of the Go Diego Go fabric.

That turned out great Heather!!! It's so cute!!! I think the blue turned out really nice! :thumbsup2

I'm hoping to make one for Lyddy tomorrow!

Thanks so much! I'll have to play with that!

I would use the lining fabric. Very cute shirt!
Thanks! I'll be sure to post a photo of the finished shirt.

Prints like this are the worst! I think I like it with the fabric you got for the lining, especially if you did the collar in it too! But any way I am sure it will look super cute!
Thanks! It was hard to find something to match the Car's fabric. I lot of the solids at JoAnns were a cotton/poly blend and I like 100% cotton. I wasn't sure I liked the lining at first but now I think it works.

Okay, this is just unfair! I looked at your ticker and we are due at the same time, how are you getting to have the baby so early? My doctor won't induce me until July 2! Are you having a c-section? I'm ready to be done too even though I know this is probably our last baby  . I went to the grocery store tonight and went to the bathroom before I left, got there about 10 minutes (or less) later and went again, bought about 10 things, went again, checked out and drove home, came inside and went again. I went to the bathroom FOUR times in about 45 minutes! Who has time for that? Sorry if that is TMI, just venting! The baby has got to be using my bladder as a pillow! Good luck with your delivery! Check back with us when you get a chance!

I know it is terribly unfair. Yes, I have a scheduled c-section on Tuesday. Both of my last two were emergency c's to one degree or another. Matthew made his appearance a full 2 weeks early. Because my babies got into distress and my blood pressure goes way up in the final weeks, my doctor was adamant that I not go past 38 weeks. So, due to the surgeon's schedule and his OR time, we're going in on Tuesday.
You have my sympathy though. These last days are tough. I hurt terribly and I'm so sick of the swollen feet, the joint pain and the running to the bathroom. I just keep reminding myself that my dear friend is due with twins 2 weeks after me and she is doubly worse off! She's already carrying almost 12 pounds of babies and her feet look like they will burst. They've given her a disabled parking pass because she can hardly move. So, in comparison, I'm doing really well!!
I'll check in as soon as I can. I'll send some labour prayers your way!!

I didn't post mine cause I didn't think that I could. So since you posted yours I'm gonna post mine. I got to be a tester too!!!
th_S2010238.jpg
This one is for Jenna's little friend Meranda and then later today I'm gonna start one for Meranda's sister Amber. Mine is just pinned for now, but I plan on adding snaps, because I hate buttons.

That is really cute Crystal!!!

OH Anna, I am so sorry! I will be saying prayers for everyone.

We LOVE JORD too!!!!!
th_bluemorgan.jpg

I finished this dress yesterday. This was the dress I started from the 80's pattern. I gave up trying to do it their way and did it MY way LOL.

BEAUTIFUL!!!! and, I like the dress too!!!! Give that Morgan a big hug from me!

I work on this for my friend:

Made of scraps of fabrics that I had:

th_2007_06160009.jpg

what you guys think? is the top too short?

Linnette

I think it's really cute, but it looks pretty short. I would make it into a little a-line top by adding some more fabric to the bottom.

People travel to Florida to meet JORD :moped: (Never mind the mouse LOL)

::yes:: That's the only reason we all went this year!

Another CarlaC tester here! The pattern was (as one would expect from a pattern of hers!) clear and easy to follow. Everything came together perfectly. I love how it is lined, so no rough seams on the inside. I feel like a professional seamstress with this one.
A Hawaiian-inspired bowling shirt--perfect for 'Ohana maybe? ;) I think at the very least, we need to go to the Poly and take pictures with this. I have to make DD a matching a-line now...
309542691_pJGQE-L-0.jpg

That is fantastic!!! I love that material!

SO... how do you get to be a CarlaC pattern tester?

You get Carla to lose your sister's email address, so she has to send the pattern to you to send to your sister.
:lmao:

I'm off to the airport shortly to pick up my very best friend. She's coming in from Ontario to help with my family while dh and I are in the hospital having this baby. I'm so excited to see her. Not to mention to be almost done with being pregnant. It's such a blessing to be pregnant but I'm so ready to be done!!!! Know what I mean?!
Anyway, Tuesday is the big day. So, if I'm away a while... that's what's up!

You mean you are having the baby Tuesday!!??? :yay:

E. All of the above!

You guys do have fun, don't you!!!!

That looks more fun than what we did (although, it was only in the 90's here, not 100s!) We got out the old sprinkler! Lydia had so much fun jumping through it!

I love the little outfit!!! That is so cute!!!

For Sesame Street Fans:

Sea World Orlando has Elmo and the gang (Seasonally). Right now they have a character breakfast and a Show.

We spend a lot of time with Elmo, my sweetie works with him and his friends

Is Elmos behaving himself lately??

No worries. I guess I should have Teresa post JORD's story LOL.

Jord goes with us EVERYWHERE. Jord is a reminder than I have not brought home a little sister for "someone". When I was naming Morgan, I was also considering the name "Jordan". So the thought was I would name #2 Jordan. "Someone" was being nosey one day heard me talking about the name and named her baby "JORD" (that was all she could pronounce at the time).

She is a very special doll indeed!

Thanks for the input on which fabric to go with! I made the third one. I'm actually making 4 of these. I have three of them half done, but I'm waiting for another measurement from my friend. This one is for my neice.

My model is in Branson at Silver Dollar City, so I can only show the shirt.

th_P6080624.jpg

That looks great!

Wow TEN hours!!! :faint: That's a long day for anyone! Why do they go so long??

 You will make it though!

 I'm so sorry. Stories like this make me so mad. Our neighbor was killed in a scuba diving accident and he did not stay with his buddy. I feel so bad for the kids he left behind because he chose to act in a reckless manner. I will pray that they will find the boy safe.

Ok, I have been giving out so many hugs because I guess I need one. My SIL came down from Tallahassee to job hunt and look at condos/apartments. That is terrible about your neighbor!

 Ten days is a long time, but you will be ok too!!! We are here for you if you need us!
hmmm... my ears have been burning lately - this must be why.
:yay: Robin!!!! HI!! Don't be such a stranger!!

Thanks for the explenation! I was always amazed when you posted those before!

I bet you can make your two a ton of outfits over the next ten days....or better yet...why don't you just book yourself a room at one of the Deluxe Disney resorts and have FUN!!! :cool1: (lol.....I could never take my own advice, I don't believe I could ever go to WDW without my kids.....I would miss them too much).

Twob4him-It looks like you guys had a great time despite the heat. I hope your AC gets fixed soon.

I have to admit that I have been skimming for most of the day. I was working on a dress for Jenna and :wizard: . I have it finished now. I tried it on Jenna to make sure it was gonna fit right and it was just darling. I will post pics tomorrow. It is hot pink with black and white trim.

:lmao: Wow...I WAS confused...for some reason I thought that Jord was a childhood lovey that belonged to TeresaJoy's oldest SON! I don't know what made me think that...perhaps seeing a picture of him with Jord? :confused3 :rotfl2:

that is a VERY cute story though and I love that Morgan is making subtle comments about her lack of little sister-age!

OH and I lost the pic in my multi quote somehow...but the picture with cookie monster pulling Morgan's hair is hilariously adorable!!!

Tomorrow is a big day at our house....:worried:

goodness gracious, why such a long day for a pre-k program?!

that being said, I'm sure your babies will do GREAT! Pre-K is full of fun stimulating activities and Lexi will get to socialize with kids her age...and show off her cute outfits...I'm sure she's going to have a blast!

Ireland will be in hog heaven!! Camp is always fun! You start to bond with your fellow campers and counselors. It's really good for social development. The Camping association of America's motto is: Camp does kids a World of Good!

very true! They'll be stimulated and learning all summer instead of vegging out in front of the TV! Can't go wrong there!!!

hang in there mama!!

they'll be home before you know it!! And this way, Scrappy can get some one on one time with you!!! Yay for Scrappy!!!:dogdance:

yesterday I was watching Miami Animal Precinct on Animal Planet and a doxie pup was rescued from near starvation from a pet shop I think...oh that poor baby was so thin and sad looking. Of course I was WEEPING as i watched it. Then we got to see the update on him...living in a mansion, fat and happy...scampering around in that puppy way. His new mommy said "Oh he is definitely the kind of the castle!

She has NO idea!

made me want to get a new puppy though!!!!

Well..I got one of the two girls off to school this morning...Alexis's Pre K won't be starting for another week. They postponed the start date to get the school ready. Ireland is off to camp without a hitch...
One question for everyone...I'm not comfortable sending her to the "water places" because she's a non-swimmer....should I just bite the bullet and send her anyway, and hope they watch her, or should I just keep her home on those days. They say they will be taking a swim test but Ireland can fool you. She can swim the length of the pool, but the minute she's tired she doesn't head for the wall, she just goes under and doesn't call for help...:scared1: I'm worried about her going to places like Wet N Wild, and going down the big water slides and not being able to swim at the bottom...What would you all do? Ireland does have a floatie vest that she loves and I'm comfortable with her swimming anywhere in that, but they aren't allowed at the water parks with her group...:(

   Here are a few hugs for you since you sound like you DO need one. Ten days is a long time, but I am sure they will miss you just as much.

We did do that once, rode on some big rides and had a nice dinner, but it was a little sad to walk around Disney and see all the happy families and know that we left ours at home. I don't think I would want to do that again. Maybe Pleasure Island, lol!

Oh, I am sure Scrappy will miss his staff, er the kids, too.

Tom and I used to watch all the Law & Orders, including the SVU and when a kid story came on, he knew that I would start to squirm and we would eventually turn it off. I know it's pretend but I can't watch it. Same thing with dogs. I don't think I could watch that show at all, poor little doxie. Glad he found a home where he could rule, as it should be!
