If I book a package, i.e.Silver Plan, with a DC discount will I be able to apply an AP rate if it comes out? I vaguely recall that cometimes the codes/discounts are for room only reservations?

I am presently booked on the Basic Plan with a DC discount. Would this also be excluded as it is a package?

Since you have an AP, they won't let you apply an AP rate to your package. You would have no need for a full-blown package, in Disney's eyes, since you have no need for theme park tickets (you already have those in the form of the AP). I hope that makes sense. If you have a Disney Club membership, you can sometimes get a discount applied to the room portion of your package, but the discount is nowhere near as lovely as what you would have gotten with an AP discount. Again, I hope I'm making sense. Disney does offer various discounts on some of the packages from time to time, mostly in the off-season time periods. If you are flexible with your travel dates, consider booking a package in an off-season when you might be able to snag a specially discounted vacation package.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I already have AP's but am considering doing the Platinum Plan for a few days this Fall. To complicate matters even further, I am a DVC member who already has her resort room reserved via her DVC membership. Since packages are not offered for DVC stays, I will have to pay for a resort room in order to do one of the package plans. So, I now have to figure out whether or not I want to (a) spend the money to pay for a resort room and (b) purchase a package that includes theme park tickets that I don't need. I've got the double-whammy staring me right in the face. I have already created an Excel spreadsheet that states the prices of the activities that my family would do while on a Platinum Plan vacation. If I can come up with enough activities to justify the cost of the plan, I just might book it.

Yeah, you cannot book the silver plan without also having the UPH included.
