Would someone please tell me if I am missing something, or if this sounds right?

I am going to Disney World with my sister and her 2 daughters, ages 9 and 14. Right now I have a room only reservation booked with an AP discount. But I am thinking it may be cheapr for us to do Free Dining. Does this sound like my math is right to you?

Four nights at POR is 445.48. Five day non-hopper passes from Undercover Tourist for my sister and her girls would be 662.85. The Tables in Wonderland card would cost me $75. We already have 4 table service meals planned tht I am guestimating at $313. For a total of about $1497.

If we were to do the Free Dining package I would get 1 day passes for everyone (as I really don't need a pass) and then upgrade to 5 days.
The package would be 1076.30 plus another $427 to upgrade there passes. For a total of $1503.30

Is that right? Is there really only a $6.30 difference between my 2 plans? I would then go with the free dining, cause I'm sure we would spend more than $6.30 on the rest of our meals.:rotfl2:

I just want to be sure that I am not missing something obvious that would make buying the parts instead of the package a better deal. Does what I have set out above make sense, or am I wrong?:confused3

You are right. When I did the math for my family I figured with "free" dining we really just pay for the TS meal and get a CS and snack a day for free.

I would do the package. Meals alone can bust a budget very quickly if you are not on the dinning plan!

At some point, it becomes less expensive to do room-only with a discount than to do the Free Dining. It really depends on how many guests are in your room, their ages and the level of resort you're staying in. That's why it's always a good idea to run the numbers to see for yourself.

A family of 2 adults and 2 juniors staying in a Value Resort will almost always find the Free Dining to be a better deal. But 2 adults staying in a Deluxe will almost always do better with a room-only discount and pay OOP for their meals.

It looks like you're right in the middle with the pricing, OP - 2 adults, 1 junior, 1 child and a Moderate Resort. That's a good place to be. It makes it easier to get some kind of discount. If you only have one choice, it's possible that there won't be an available room for your dates.
