How does it work when Fed Ex says they delivered a package yet we never got it? I was home that day and time and know it wasn't delivered to our house - maybe to a neighbor by mistake? Doubt it could be stolen since I have a great watch dog and live in a non traffic area.

File a claim with the sender or the vendor stating you didn't get the package. Don't mention neighbors; simply say you did not get the package.

It is not unusual for delivery services such as UPS or Fedex to profile the neighborhood and deliver a package with no one home or deliver the package without ringing the doorbell anyway if they thinki the neighborhood is safe, while they are responsible for the consequences.

I would contact them to see if they noted where they left it. You would not believe the places delivery people will leave things, so definitely check ALL around your house, near/in your garage, in bushes, heck, someone on the Dis had delivery people leave things in her car when its windows were open!

a delivery guy open the garage door once and put it in there. I thought that was a bit odd. I was home too.. otherwise it would have been locked.

Definitely check around your house. I sent a package to a friend once, and she didn't get it. Fedex said it was definitely delivered. Well, weeks later she found it - at the back door, which they never use. It had snowed that day and so by the time she checked around the house, it was buried in the snow and she didn't notice it.

Yeah, like the others, I have had packages dropped off by my back door. Also, I have noticed a couple of times that they put "Delivered" but it wasn't. It arrived the next day. Maybe the driver forgot it, and didn't want to go back.

Definitely call FedEx to report that you did not receive the package and ask where it was left. FedEx routinely leaves my packages (in order of frequency):

1. under a bush/beneath the bay window that is next to the front door.
2. in plain sight on the front porch
3. at the next door neighbor's (he receives more packages than I do-his arrive practically daily. Unfortunately, he sometimes opens mine and ALWAYS waits until FedEx calls him to give me the package. I can understand a package the size that he usually receives -trades for Matchbox cars-but not my Victoria Secret!!!
4. tossed over the back of the privacy fence in the back. One time I used points from Zoompanel to redeem for a Hoover Vacumn cleaner-yep-over the back privacy fence. The requested delivery time was after 5 pm-it was tossed over around 10am.
5. inside the screen door
6. in a large flower pot inside the 8 ft privacy fence in the corner:confused:

My brother lives just outside a small down on a county rd. FedEx alone of the delivery services leaves his packages:
1. under the mailbox at the start of the lane on the county road-including golf clubs!!!!
2. inside the open garage
3. on the front porch
4. at the kitchen entry steps (easiest place to leave a package except on the road-closest to the driveway entrance)
5. opened the side door to the garage(3 car plus storage) and placed the package inside, under the hunting gear, between the boots-the driver had to walk around the 4 kids' outdoor toys on a dirt path-ignored the open garage /sidewalks to the doors :rolleyes1 It took 3 calls to FedEx for the driver to remember that he did this-only after a claim was filed for the $150 insured value could the Driver respond. FedEx first reported it was left at the garage door, then the side door, then the side door to the garage, then that the driver opened the side door and put the package "just inside", then OH, he remembered-under the hunting gear and yeah, between the boots. This was the 3rd call when the local manager made a call back with the driver in his office. Funny, my Brother hasn't had packages left anywhere except the first 3 places since! The manager apologized to my Brother who then explained his usual experiences.

UPS ALWAYS leaves packages on his front porch.
USPS leaves packages at the side of the road (which would drive me crazy-there is more traffic than you would believe) and on the front porch.

One of my brother's neighbors had FedEx leave a package under a very large tree to the right of the house-it was refrigerated medication and marked as such-the neighbor was frantic, the driver stated the he "thought it would be cooler under the tree". Uhhhh, the neighbor had stayed home all day waiting for the delivery and the driver admitted to seeing the front door open :confused3

Good luck.

I have only had Fed-X deliveries twice and both times I had problems.
The first I made out like a bandit. I ordered a WII for my son during the Christmas that they were very hard to find. I was on the Amazon notification list and when it was available I ordered it quickly. According to the Fed-X website it said they delivered it but it wasn't anywhere to be found. I called Amazon and they couldn't send me another because they were sold out but they took it off my charge card. 2 days later Fed-X Delivered the WII. I called AMazon right away and they said that they couldn't recharge my card for it, they put it down as a loss, so I could either send it back or keep it. Guess which one I chose?
A few weeks ago my AT&T phone died. I had insurance so I ordered another. Again, according to the Fed-X site it had been delivered. I never got it so I called AT&T and they just sent me another.
I was home both times but Fed-X does not ring the doorbell, they just leave the box outside.

My sister once had something lost by UPS/Fedex. After investigating, they used the GPS in the thingy you sign to see it got left/signed at the next-door neighbors. The neighbors appear to have signed for it but didn't bother to tell my sister they had it for her!

A similar thing happened with my SIL and an Amazon order -- a neighbor signed for it thinking it was something she ordered, tossed it in a pile, and didn't look at the box again until she was ready to wrap Christmas presents six weeks later (at which point SIL had already dealt with Amazon to have it re-shipped).

Point is, ask if they can GPS where it was signed for, or check ALL the neighbors. Maybe your dog spooked the delivery guy?

We have had several packages misdelivered. One time a package had two labels, one with our address, one with our next-door neighbor's, and our package was left with the neighbor who has packages delivered daily. Luckily I have been able to contact the delivery company on the same day each time there has been a misdelivery and they have sent the driver to retrieve the packages and deliver them to me.

A package I sent my mother was delivered to a neighbor's house and they were out of town for several weeks so it took us forever to figure out where it had gone!

I once found a package under a melting pile of snow on the deck of my second floor apartment. The delivery person had to have tossed it up in the air and have it land on my deck for that package to have made it to that location! Luckily it was did not have fragile contents. Quite a surprise.
