I was wondering if you have to have a bar at all for the reception? We were going to have the Bottled Water and Soda package, (no alcohol at all) but I know that the tea, coffee, and regular water come with the meal already. Has anyone had any experience with this? TIA!

We didn't serve any alcohol, just the soda and water package, so it wasn't really a bar, but they had someone behind a table with our now-infamous $900 worth of sodas laid out.

What a WASTE! I highly recommend doing a Billed on Consumption bar for the soda/water package (especially for morning/early afternoon functions). They convinced us that our guests would be opening sodas, setting them down and then going to get new ones and that we were going to rack up the charges if we didn't do the package. I highly doubt anyone opened more than 2 of anything... we would have saved a ton of dough by doing billed on consumption (unless the servers hid the ice water and pushed only bottled water like at Emily's wedding - booo!)

Oh, and if your question was more along the lines of "Is it socially acceptable not to provide booze at my wedding?" my answer is a resounding YES! :thumbsup2

Oh WAIT! It just hit me that maybe what you're asking is do you have to provide anything other than coffee, tea and water? I say go for it! (But then I don't really drink soda, so I wouldn't miss it...), especially if you're doing brunch and you already have juice as part of your menu!

Thanks for the info... Maybe we should think about BOC bar. At the planning session they were telling how much more money it would cost us and basically that the package was the only way to go. Our bar package for soda and water came to almost $2,500:scared1: That just seems like a waste of money to me!

woah!:scared1: I just shared your post with DF and he said "oh yeah..they're drinking tea" :rotfl2: We'll save the money for beer & wine. If they're drunk they'll never know there's no soda!!:rotfl:

We are doing no alcohol, other than a signature drink, we are doing the package soda/water package. I think they are charging me 2 packages for our pre-reception. there is a drink "package" incorporated in our pre-reception price and a drink package for the whole affair! I keep looking at it and wondering !! i have a phone session with Marion on thursday and hope to clarify!

Can you imagine paying double for soda/juice/ coffee- one Disney price is too much!

Yeah, that's pretty much what we have decided. The exact total is $2560.26 for soda and water for 80 people! That's the price of the WP! I'd rather spend the money on chair covers and extra things

:rotfl:PLEASE!!:woohoo:

we are doing a package purely for ease so I dont have to worry about it and also we only have 18 guests and its only 29:50 for beer and wine package. We are doing this cos when i looked at the prices for things seperatly people would only need like 3 beers and thats it the 29.50 is paid for and df will drink at least 3 in about an hour! him and his mates love a beer so we then dont have to worry about a huge bill

We're doing beer and wine BOC on both Recep/Ceremony and DP.
All in all we are being charged $700 for 26A + 4C (including additional $200 service fee - $100 for each location).
Our family will drink very little but I do want to give options for the others (plus we need the sodas).
It's REALLY close to the package bar if we are to use it but we're hopingthere will be much less drinking than we expected.
